My flowmaster 40's drone horribly at 50 MPH in 4th. I try not to cruise at that speed for long. I also have a fabbed H-pipe. They completely drown out the radio at 50mph and are almost silent at 60mph. I have 3.25 gears. No tach so don't know RPM.

I am hitting 40 in 3rd at approx 2000 rpms (3.80 gears). And yes, if I had a radio, it would drown it out.

But once I hit 50 and pretty much up to 35 or 40, the exhaust is almost silent, except for all the noise we are driving away from outside the car.

I would guess, based on wave theory, that once I hit approximately 85-90 mph and cruised at that speed, I would get the drone back.

The good thing is there is not a lot of noise while accelerating, only when I get to that 40-50 mph and pull back the throttle to a cruising speed. While accelerating, it is fairly quiet in the car, but very loud outside!

At least the exhaust is all laid out now. If I wanted, I could cut off the Flowmasters and stab in something else. I could even do it in my garage and cut and weld it myself, so i wouldn't have to pay someone to bend all the pipe to make it all line up. The hard work has been paid for and done.

So some sort of insulated muffler may be in my near future, and these super44s may go to sale to some young-un willing to put up with the noise. I am about to turn 40, and getting too old for all this ruckus :biglaugh:

My 40 series with dumps weren't loud enough for me so i sold them lol. Dynomax bullets are what i'm going to use now, my neighbors are going to love them.

Having your exhaust dumping under the car will cause a drone as the sound waves bounce from the pavement back to the floor pan. If you take the exhause to the outside perimeter of the car it will all but disapear.
