ShadowMaster, So..................how long ago did you see the car, and can you remember which strip you were at. Just interesting to know. The car was at least in the hands of two other people after Greg sold it. I've had it to the Redding strip and hope to have it at Sacramento, Somoa, and maybe up to Medford.
Oldrodder...I belive I remember seeing that car too!!...I can almost swear I've seen it a few times at LACR (Los Angeles Country Raceway) which is now history, and perhaps at Pomona too...this would have been in the late 80's to mid-90's. Its a very cool car!!
Seirra Grabber, Still trying to repair the damage I did at the last outing to the Redding Dragstrip. No, I won't make it this Sunday, but I am going to try and make Somoa on the 23rd and SacTown on 19th of June for the FordvsChevy race.
Here are two pictures showing the new graphics on the front fender and rear quarter. These are in white for now, but I will change them to match the blue on the pinstriping later.
Looks great! Glad to see an old warhorse [or is that war bull?] back in action! The old race cars of the 60's, 70's, and 80's had more character than most of the cars today. Part of that could be I grew up then in the 70's, and read every magazine I could get my hands on, wishing for the day I could own a cool race car like that! Keep the updates coming!
Here is another picture the original owner sent me. Sometime in 1980 and the Maverick is ready to hit the road in search of another drag strip in Southern California........................tow rig is a very nice looking 72 Torino, painted the same color as the Maverick with pin striping to match. The trailer is also black with pin striping and was built by one of the sponsers, Herold & Mielenz, Inc. Now, if I could only find a black 72 Torino wagon.
Now, if I could just scrape up the money, this would be the perfect tow vehicle for the Maverick; http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/ctd/1746002422.html
