Wow! Clean car, I have similar story but my car needs a lot of work thow. Congrat's and welcome to the site!
Making Progress! Rebuilt the carburetor, and did a full tune up! Running really well, plus did a valve inspection and replaced the valve cover gasket. Had a slight ticking on 4 and 5 intake valves. Ran some lifter cleaner in and so far seems to have resolved itself. The rocker arms, springs and valley look really clean, very consistent with a 68k mile engine. Took plenty of picks, see below. Carb procedure was pretty simple, used an ultrasonic tank and a little simple green solution. Cleaned up pretty well! http://s325.photobucket.com/albums/k378/kboldin/carb/?albumview=slideshow Rebuild Procedure: Like most, I needed a new dashpot, reading through other posts it seems this is a hard item to find. I found a direct replacement through Champion Mustang. Part listed below. http://www.championmustang.com/carter-yf-series-carburetor-dashpot-p-10299.html Couple other parts from Champion, interior lamp cover (same part for Mustang or Maverick 70-73). The little rubber sun visor boots, same as above. I would bet there are a lot of cross over parts, Mustang and Pinto!
Very nice car! I'd have to leave that one all original, even with the add on AC. Change the AC over to 134A if it's leaked down, and drive it!
Picture will not upload but ,the four bolts that hold the base butterfly plate to the fuel bowl, mid section, need to have locktite on them!
