Then it would be heading in the direction of your cyclops! Fill the whole thing in!!!

Just so you guys could see what sizes I'm at with this already, I taped a bezel to the back of the car (no easy task at 6 degrees F above zero)

As you can see, add that big old gear looking LDO gas cap in there too and they isn't much space to spare!

:wow: That is really neat! Those are going to look good!

Definitely the brightest idea I've seen in a while! ;)

instead of using standard bulbs, you could put some of the LED ones in there. course with the standard bulbs would look fine.

The bezels were the toughest part. I experimented with some scrap pieces, trying many types of solders and brazing. Nothing worked. Either it would not stick or if you got the parts just a little too hot, they would just plain disapear in a total meltdown. I don't have a TIG welder at my disposal, but Dennis said in an earlier post that he tried a TIG on one of his projects and it didn't work out either. I also tried a bunch of different "cold weld" products, epoxies and JB Weld type stuff.

I settled on an epoxy resin made by Permatex with fiberglass cloth added for strength. It worked very well. The part will bend before it will break, and that is what I needed to get to. You have to remember that the bezels are held onto the whole assembly by little locking brackets as well. Once assembled and mounted to the car it will hold up very well.

I am not really saying to make it longer, just add an upright to divide the reflector from a light.

I like your version too! It does look nice with the 4 dividers, no doubt.

In fact my original drawings (yea, old school paper concept drawings, no photoshop on my pc yet) had a 4 divider one. I decided against it for several reasons. The biggest is, I wanted to retain the stock Maverick look on the first part of the light, and have the added benefit of the additional 2 tail and brake lights with the sequential effect. The other reason is you would need 2 more donor lights to cut apart so now you would need 8 lights to make 1 pair instead of 6. Plus all the added cutting and fitting labor on the bezel, and I think in order for it to look uniform, you would need to cut the lens and light housings and add a thin strip to them to make up some material under that added divider. That would be 2 more welds in the light housing and 2 more bonds in the plastic lens. A lot more work that is for sure.

But it does look cool with 4 dividers, if somebody wants to make it!

    I don't have photochop either...
I just cut and paste stuff around in the bitmap screen.
Crude, but it works pretty good, especially for objects with straight lines and 90* angles.

Sounds like a ton of work!
It's just like a commitee man to throw out ideas without consideration of the work, worry, and cost. I should have been in government!

The more I rearrange your tail lights, the more I like this:
It can be done with 2 pair of lights and no mods to the housing itself. Just a bezel mod.

I like that one too! A very simple way to customize your taillights to make it your own. Since you would only need the dividers, you could probably beg up a couple of banged up bezels from the board members. And, if you look at mine, I had to add that section as an "I" shape (or an "H" if you are laying down while reading this). You would not have to cut your original bezels, only add in the divider. Very simple to do indeed!

Nice work. Original and different. Thats COOL! I've always liked the Shelby tail lights on the Mavericks, but useing the original Maverick lights to gain the effect does'nt take away the Mavericks dignity.
