drove it to work today, got some exhaust put on, and tommorows agenda involves traction aids and hood cutting!

Very nice, love the look of the motor. Is it going to be track legal though? I always thought you couldn't have more than 12" of rubber fuel line in the engine bay. Your fuel hose to the carbs looks longer than that.

One thing I dont't like is the big air filter. I think it would look better just a little higher then the stock filter base. It distracts attention from the engine and all i see is big ass filter. Im sure its useful though to get it up into the scoop.

our local track doesnt have a tech insp,I live 5 mins from the track so i probly wont be going anywere else. The filter im not real happy with but the aircleaner needs the rubber seal which should kill some of the height

So what happened to the 8? Did the caps go out or what?

On the 8" nothing is reusable, both AXLES are BENT and the splines twisted on the LR, cross pin is bent, and stuck in the mini spool, the ring gear and pinion is missing teeth and stripped, the chunk it self is broken were it blew the bearing caps out and into peices. and the housing is bent and has a horrid gouge in it

It pretty much junked it on the 3-4th launch on slicks Im real dissapointed in how it held up.

The 8.8 can be made to be as strong as a 9. And the explorer one already comes with 31 spine axles. The first two things to address on them are the c clips and welding the middle section to the tubes. But its easy to do.

The 8.8 cannot be made as strong as the 9 inch unit. It can be made almost as strong and it is more than enough for 75% of the cars out there- but I think you are in that other 25%. Good luck.

Ford puts them behind 500+HP cars. Thats as strong as the OE 9"s.
