the later tank is... deeper...that's why you need longer strap bolts. if you have duel exhaust now there will be no problems, the tank isn't wider. ......
...how so? the '76 tank i put in my '73 fit inside the side stops (keeps the tank from sliding sideways). it fit in the straps and didn't hit the rear valance. just used longer bolts. ...actually...
If you go to jeff`s website he has a picture of a 74 and 76 tank side by side. And the 76 is wider, i dont know about the early 71/73 tank. EDIT: Heres the pic:
1972 Maverick Gas Tank Just to confirm I can buy the Spectra Preminum F30 and it will fit a 1972 Maverick?
so all i have to do is buy a spectra f 30 tank and bolt it on? do i also need to buy more stuff other than the tank? like sending unit etc.
I'm looking to do the same thing... After browsing several of these gas tank swap threads I'm still lost on the sending unit. My old sending unit is quite literally FUBAR. If I'm getting the F30 tank what sending unit should I use? What other parts are needed?
I just finished this yesterday on my '72 Mav. You'll need the following... Spectra F30 tank Spectra ST99 tank straps (or longer bolts for the original straps) Sending unit for a '75 Mustang II Vapor Valve E7DZ-9B593-A Vapor Valve Seal F6TZ9B076AA The sending unit needed to have the float arm bent slightly just so it would read correctly, but other than that it bolted right up. Didn't have to modify the valence as some have said.
There is a vendor here on the forum who has a ton of parts, His name is Karina, he has a web page www.mymustangstore.com. he has many parts for mav's and comets.
http://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premi...mm=1975:ford:mustang+ii&keywords=sending+unit Is this the correct one for he 75 ford mustang 2 that you said would go with the f30 tank?
