Dave, were you going to weld the lower quarter pieces with an overlap or underlap to your original quarter panel or butt welding them together? I asked Dale Doll that question early on because Dale is going to finish up any bondo work for me and I didn't want to give him something that he wasn't pleased with. He told me to overlap the bottom patch piece over the top piece. Don't know enough about body wrk to be able to explain why just throwing it out there :)

I'm going to butt weld it, that's the way I did the tail light panel. Once (if ever) it's done, it should look pretty close to the way they did it from the factory (I hope) It's probably more work, butt welding..and I keep telling myself, I'm not building a 100% correct car anyways...

I keep telling myself that all the time. Does it work for you? I say it like a chant.

Nothing too exciting, but I got a few coats of POR 15 on the patched trunk drop I made, ground down most of the welds, but it's not really anything you'll see once the car is together...

A little gross on the inside, but a quick pass with the grinder should clean it all up.

Did you take breaks with the little tacks so nothing warped from the heat? The quarter does look good from your photo.

I talked to Jean Doll today about welding my bottom patch pieces directly on the body line as M.A.V. had his done and Dale says for me to "go for it" so :thumbs2:

    Thanks everyone!
Nope, one long super hot bead! :rofl2: Really, I had to pace myself, I get a little overly excited when I'm doing this stuff, but with my job I have all the patience...I can sit and watch a ice machine make ice for hours... Lots of little welds, nice and close, I only blew two holes. There is some small spots where it twisted a bit, but they'll come out with the hammer and dolly. It's time for a Bud Light. (y)
