I don't see anywhere on this thread where the discussion wasn't calm... I just don't understand when people come in these threads like "OMG WTF BBQ THIs thread is so outta hand" when it simply isn't the case...

Ok, as I've not been as active here recently as in the past (not due to anyone or anything around here), I just read this entire thread. I knew nothing about this issue until just now, myself.

A couple things I do need to state. First, for John to take on this is saying something for his mettle. There's more to running any group or event than many realize. John has his work cut out for him, and I think he realizes that. This is a guy that has more horse sense and decency than a lot of people I know. I'm glad nobody has disputed this. I feel that his decision is not based on creating division, also. John is a man of conviction and he is following his. Nothing more.

Next, I applaud all of you for not taking this issue down the wrong road. That could have happened very easily. That's saying something for y'all, also.

Peaceful co-existance? Not unreasonable as long as there is nobody stirring the pot as has happened in the past. It's up to all to make sure this doesn't happen as there's no plausable reason for that to happen.

I completely agree,...people need to stop trying to make more out of having a meet than it really is, having a mini meet is a very easy process. the biggest thing needed is someone to just say they'll do it. they dont have to be elaborately planned. pick a date, time, show up. yes its really that easy. so what if they start out small, you have to start somewhere.
just get out and start being active :)

I will be hosting a Maverick Mini-Meet in June 2007 in conjunction with our 4th annual Fords On the River Days. I hope to see some of you Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin guys there. Anyone interested in helping, please PM me.

    One other Mini-Meet myth:

Do I have to be a state rep to host a mini-meet?

    Answer: No

Seth and Chris have summed it up quite well. The only other thing I would ad would be to show up early at the show and greet people as they arrive.

Wes, thanks for the kind words....I sure have missed you :yup: Tell Joy I said

Yes, mini-meet drama is a urban legend....its not hard...it takes a little initiative, dedication and willingness. Remembering that communication is the key ;)

*Also, MCG news will be coming soon....a few changes made due to input from those that support what the MCG is doing......as soon as everything is more finalized (this pertains to the GATHERING) we will post for all to see.
    Thanks again to everyone. :)

I have been a member of this forum for a good while now. I USED to be a VERY active member. Nowadays I'm kinda busy with life in general and can't devote the time that I'd like to this board or my car. And to tell the truth, I didn't like some of the changes that had occured and the tone taken by some members. Keep in mind, I do not dislike anyone on this board, and part of the problem was possibly due to my dislike of change. (Bad thing, I know) Instead of bashing or arguing with anyone publicly or privately, I just quit coming around for awhile. Apparently a LOT has changed during my absence. I know many of you from posts on this board and Matt's board. (Another GREAT board, in my opinion) I know very few of you personally. John is one of the few that I do. I had a layover in Ky last year and John took the time to drive out to the airport, pick me up and drive me out to show me his car and visit. Damn fine fellow (excuse the language-please) I do not think he ever meant to start ANY petty rivalries that seem to have surfaced. I think his idea has been blown out of proportion by several people. Very much out of proportion. I say lets just all take a little while to see how the club progresses before we make judgements (on either side) and just try to be nice again. At one time that is what this board meant. A place for enthusiasts to meet and discuss Maverick/Comet topics and interact with other enthusiasts. Let's just TRY to be civil and at least pretend to be the same board/group we once were. Anyway, that's just what I would like to see happen. Stop the BS. Please. Y'all take care.....Preston
