OK, I tried these on my Mav with the V8 and manual 3-speed. They barely did not fit. The collector flange hit the z-bar, see pics, but only by a little. I'm sure a little grinding would allow them to fit. There was about a 1/16" space between the flange and heads at the lower back rear of the header flange.

Jay, I need to get the headers back to you, call me.

Looking at the pictures, is there really room for making it fit?

Yea, it does look close. I can't wait to see how it fits the column shifts.

They should fit. The pitman arm should be no problem, its the space between the z-bar and the steering box that is tight. The header collector flange could possibly be lengthened by 1/4 to 1/2 inch so that it extends past the z-bar, or the header collector flange could be ground down slightly on one or both sides, or the z-bar could be messaged. It's tight but aren't all headers for our cars? Besides, not too many people have a V8 with a 3 speed manual anyways.

Those two pics are for manual on the tree right? Have there been any tries or pics for an automatic on the tree yet, or are we just starting everything out now?

Edit: And may I just add that those look WONDERFUL? Thanks for helping us Mav/Comet owners out!! :tiphat:

The automatic on the tree will be no problem. I took a look at the linkage after seeing the posiitoning of the Z-bar on Eriks car. The Auto linkage is much more compact and and further back so no interference there.

I am still looking for a 351W in a Mav or Comet in So Cal to try these on. I know we would all like to know if these will work before laying out money to buy a set. I am in San Diego. Please call me if you are interested. With gas being so expensive right now, it is a $50 bill for me to drive up to LA.

(No, I am not asking for gas money. I just want to be sure that we will be able to test fit them in one trip.):)

Thanks Jayman, I have been waiting to hear that they will fit an auto on the tree.

Good to know as I'm earmarking money for these puppies. I'd like to see if they'll fit a 351W as that would likely be the next motor I'd put into my baby. But I'm happy about the above. (y)

Erick-Mav, do you have pics showing the shock tower clearance (wider view). May be nice to see the fit over the length of the head. I know the first post has some pics but additional pics would be nice. It looks like the flange on the DS may be a challenge to connect to the pipe?
