My rear is disassembled right now and the only measurement that I can give you is across the rear, between the right and left 4 bolt axle flanges.

My Versailles rear housing measures 52 inches. It sounds like you may have the same rear and that 58 inch measurement, that you got, could have been taken at the ends of the axles but at least I gave you a measurement that you can double check with.

Also the Versailles 9 inch comes with disc brakes. This same rear was also used in the Granada and Monarch but did not always have disc brakes. Some came with drum brakes. Hope this helps some.

The original Versailles rear calipers have the parking brake built into them. I'm not so sure that they are even available anymore. If you were to use them you would have to come up with some way to make them work with the Maverick parking brake cables. The rear rotors are also different from left to right due to the way the cooling vanes are aimed. I know for years only 1 side was available but who knows if anything bad would happen if you had 2 left side or 2 right side rotors on the rear or not.

I found that the calipers from the front of a Granada would fit but then you would have no parking brake at all. Also, to make these work, you had to use the inside pad from the Versailles rear plus the outside pad from the front Granada caliper.

Converting Explorer disc brakes are another option - search the forum here for some threads discussing that subject.

I finally deceided to go with custom weld on racing brackets that accept single piston calipers from a 1985 3/4 ton Chevy truck and Jeep Cherokee rotors.

Many ways to go about it for sure :yup:

Back when I was still heading in the Explorer disc swap direction, I read up on the swap and, if I remember correctly, the swap would still work with the 9 but it had to be a big bearing 9 inch which mine is. I didn't take it any further than reading up on it.

I just did a search in Google and used "9 inch Explorer brakes" and got a ton of hits. See what you come up with to be certain. (y)

so far only kits, but there expensive. i want to find a set up that is wallet friendly. ive read that the mark VII work with the 9" and ill still be able to use my e brake. ill do some more searching but for now thats my best bet, first ill locate the parts and see what my total comes up to then go from there
