Just a couple of things here.............first I would put screw in studs, your pressed in studs are not going to hold up to over .500 lift of the F cam. Also, if you are going to run the F then you should buy the springs that go with the cam, or have a machine shop shim the springs you currently have to meet the spec's of the installed height and closed and open pressure..............this is pretty important. My guess is that the windsor springs ARE worn out, and I wouldn't use them. Really the installed height is what you need to determine and you need to know the spring tension at installed height and open. A machine shop can tell you this. Never put used springs on a new cam without having them checked out.............especially when the cam is over .500 lift. I think even the E303 is still around .498 lift, so switching to a smaller lift cam really won't accomplish anything because you still don't know what kind of springs you have and if they are up to spec with the cam.
As for maximum lift of the heads, that really depends on the valve train you are using, springs, retainers, keepers and screw in studs..............deep six those pressed in studs............if you pulled a stud you could probably kiss the motor good buy as it would turn it into scrap. Also, I would clay the tops of the pistons to see how much clearance you have when the cam is at full lift..........just to see how much room you still have between the valve and top of piston, just to be safe.................IMHO

Talking about the C90E heads, I don't think you can run a mechanical cam without milling pedestal and installing screw in studs.
I had a set on my 64 289HiPro Comet and remember I went through a lot of hassle to put them on. I had a wild Schiefer cam ( .540 lift) and back in 1970 there weren't too many guys playing around with that much lift on the street.
Also, I think you are going to have to go with regular rockers, not the stock type. It's been about 40 years ago since I play'd around with 351w heads, but they sure did wake up the little 289..............with 4:56 gears in the 9" there weren't too many cars that could catch me in one stoplight.

havent been on in awhile, left you all hanging

here you go. c4 to aodto t5 5 speed. to sets of 69 head to aluminum, to different intakes. mini spool in the nine inch, granada discs in front, all brandnew suspension up front, new bfgs, weld wheels, fenders doors, havent put the grabber stuff on yet cause waiting for it to come back from being dipped, front bumper, rear bumper, 69 mustang bucket seats, battery relocation, the lst goes on and on. its so nice to put gas in the car and drive it. it is now officially reliable. posting pics now.

1 year of owning the car

t5 swap was very easy, easier then doing the aod swap. didnt like the aod cause it didnt have the quick response that i was looking for. even with 350 gears and a mini spool. motor didnt like it either. went to the junkyard found a forxbody with a good driveshaft fit perfect with a c4 yoke and ford 9 inch. if i would of known that it was cheaper then the aod swap i would of never put it in. just need to start doing the frame connect, get my caltrac bars on, and off to irwindale. if i can get it to hook hoping for mid 10s. i cant wait. then i can start making my jig to get the strut front end made so i can get steering angle for drift nights down at the local track. then i can get the 4 link done in the rear. stay tuned. this time next year itll be crazzier then it is now.
