I am guessing that you cant talk to the previous owner of the car and ask questions, it acts like it has a manual valve body in it meaning you would have to shift it manually. When you shift it manually are the shifts nice and crisp like tire chirping or just kind of go into gear softly. May be a pain to shift manually but at least it is driveable. These cars tend to not make very good daily drivers as if it is not one thing that is bad it is another
So i replaced the modulator and same issue !! I have heard it could be a governor in the trans or even clogged filters or a combination of things ? when I shift it manually going from 1st to 2nd I often have to let off the gas to get it to shift, same from 2nd to 3rd
I dunno what's wrong with it but a clogged filter will cause transmission to slip badly. A stuck/misassembled governor could cause non shift issues
