Yeah, the servo piston is easy to change, BUT one really needs to drop valve body to insure strut that connects with band hasn't slipped out of place. Broken band can be determined with adjustment. If adjusting bolt doesn't snug up in approx 2-3 turns, either it's busted or the aforementioned struit is out of place. Miracles in a can rarely fix older automatics and rarely any newer one with sudden problems, mostly they clean sticking valves, solenoids etc. One could toss just about any snake juice in a Windstar automatic and make at least some improvement. A friend fixed one with Lucas.
I didn’t think I would be getting such great advise from a Cometier over some of theses Mavicans. So thanks.
I don't think is a broken problem to be changing parts or opening up transmission. it was driven 4 days earlier, sounds like something stuck to me. that is why I recommended the ...Lubegard ATF Protectant
No worries I understand but some like my who doesn’t know crap about transmissions rather just take it to a shop
I know this is an old post. I'm interested in knowing if you ever figured out what failed. Please update. I'm currently refreshing an old transmission so in trans learning mode once again. To add if i remembered. It was the ears on my band that broke years ago in mustang. Found the piece in my pan.
