Hey fellas, I got ahold of a 302 engine out of a 1972 Mustang I believe. I'm not 100% for sure but anyway I redid the top end with new head gasket and cleaned all of the valve both intake and exhaust and put in new lifters and cam but my question is it will not fire up for anything and I'm not sure why. Even if the engine timing was off a little and the compression was garbage I should still get some type of rough start. I have nothing at all and I'll check Spark so could someone give me an idea of what I need to do next. If I have air fuel and Spark it should start but I'm lost right now

After three or four tries to start, always check ignition for spark. Even mis timed, wrong firing order etc, it still should pop into intake or exhaust.

Moved this to your own thread. :tiphat:

9 out 10 times it turns out to be the firing order is off, or the distributor is put in wrong. It is pretty easy to get the distributor off 180 degrees.

Did you degree the cam? Would not be the first time the wrong cam ended up in a motor and didn't match the crankshaft.
