    This is hillarious.

Around here, if it's an import and it's a young guy driving it, it's riced out. Altezza lights, body kits, fart pipes, stickers, primer, rimz... god forbid they get a NOS sticker.

Come on gentlemen. I like a good a debate and crap slinging contest as much as anybody:D but.....

    1. Realize this is a Maverick Board. If you want to talk imports on a regular basis find an import site or at least do it in off topic.
    2. I like all cars but my passion has and will continue to be Mavericks.
    3. I was beat by a Honda once, I blew the tires off at the line ran a 14 something.:( I almost caught him:D
    4. So Who wants to race me?:p

    :agreed: :hide:

When I hear the exhaust sound from the race, it sounds like the mav driver was having some trouble keeping his foot down or something, kinda sounded like points floating  .

I'm not mad, and I have nothing against Hondas, but they're nothing to get excited about. They are not classics, and they are not super fast unless someone spends 10-times what the car is worth in engine mods and weight reduction, at which point, it's strictly a race car. I don't want to insult people who like Hondas, but I also ain't interested in hearing them talk about how their Honda will dust a Maverick. Ford never intended Mavericks to be performance cars, so no one has anything to brag about when they beat one, but with a few relatively inexpensive mods, they kick serious butt and no typical 4-cylinder job is gonna beat it. It's gonna have to be expensive and high-tech, or you can just forget about it...

:agreed: . But I dont think it's imports that's the issue here. It's some people's continued disrespect of other people and other peoples likes. The people that feel the need to defend imports or other cars in general are usually not the one's to start these threads. These ignorant (ignorant in the sense that they THINK they know about a particular subject, in this case imports or the group of people in that culture. But have not educated themselve's in such, and constantly make rash and stupid comments of things they no nothing about) people that do make these comments, continue to show their lack of respect for fellow enthusiast, themselves, and this hobby! Proof of that can be seen all over this thread. Im a car enthusiast not just a Maverick enthusiast, but Im here because I like Mavericks in particular and like to talk about them. If someone chooses to make a disrespectful comment about something else I like then I will defend that. But If this crap continues I will not be part of this board anymore...

Well, I'm politically INcorrect, and I do not respect or like every car. Too bad, so sad. That is no personal insult to you or anyone else here. As I stated before, you have a right to like whatever you want, and that's fine, but myself and some others here think it's just sad that the Honda in that video beat the Maverick, and we also believe that it is not a typical Honda, but rather seriously (and no doubt expensively) modified to run like that. I will never be impressed by a car with 108 horsepower and 90-some pounds of torque. A K&N, header, & fart-pipe tip isn't going to bring those numbers up very much either.

You shouldn't be so hypersensitive. That's just my opinion (which I am entitled to)...

I'm going to "Geek out" on this one just because I write about cars all the time and I've even helped developed OverRev Magzine a few years back so I know both sides. You have to know where to put your money. Do you have any idea how much injectors/rail, a cold air "intake", and exhaust cost for those cars??

ModMav71 of course your Grabber didn't beat the CRX, the engine isn't everything. With the way you described your Mav, I would say the thing would 60ft out of its own way. I got mine to go deep in the 10s (eight mile) with stuff I had laying in my garage. My '98 Civic Ex busted 11s, and that's a '98 Vtec motor. You can even read about it in Race Pages magazine and that's plain and simple, Zack! :evilsmile

I'll say it again: If I had a stone stock CRX and a old @$$ 250 I6 Mav I would need some gear (400$) some slicks (used $100) and some traction bars ($120). Maybe throw some weight in the back. The HP and TQ are there in even the 6cyl Mavs, you just know how to get it all to the ground.

Some people are so hypocritical and have no clue at all. I'm loveing every second of this thread. :biglaugh:

I have nothing against imports. I own three Honda's and am considering buying an '85 Civic. This is a FORD Maverick site, and when you make blanket statements like has been made in a couple of threads on this subject, you better expect people to get on your case. I'd suggest reading and THINKING about what someone is saying before responding, espeically one of my posts. Especially before saying someone else is ignorant. Can't see the forest for the trees comes to mind.
