I'm currently doing the v8 swap on a 74. Dropping in the engine, transmission combo I noticed the exhaust manifold touching the steering box and oil filter on the fender. Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue and their solution.

You need a Maverick specific exhaust manifold, they exit about 3 inches lower. IMG_0360.JPG

do you have the correct motor mount stands and mounts? and if so, are they installed on the correct sides.

I'll look into the maverick manifold. Is there a way to know exactly what oil filters fit. And yes I definitely have maverick V8 mounts and supports.

Has to be something with the mounts. The manifolds could be wrong but the filter can't be.

The std Motorcraft FL1, Fram PH8, etc are supposed to fit without issues... Something isn't right with your motor mounts...

Those look like Mustang mounts. I believe the Maverick ones are shorter.

Definitely check your mounts, but you could also use a FL-300 oil filter. It is an inch or two shorter than the FL1.

If I recall when mounts are incorrectly installed it moves the motor back about 1", can you show us a pic of how they are installed. Did transmission mount fit correctly ?

The motor mount part # is for a Mustang, you need a 2316

I'm also converting it over to manual so the transmission crossmember doesn't help.

Thanks for all the help. Filter is no longer hitting. Exhaust manifold touching got worst but I'm just gonna pick up a maverick one. IMAG0556.jpg
