the guy from the shop came by yesterday and saw my new motor on the stand:bananaman . he asked me if i had pulled the part that the filter screws onto off and checked behind it to see if any of the bore shavings were behind it. i don't have a tool to fit it and was wondering if anyone has delt with this before? if need be i will get it off (remember i do have a claw hammer) he he thanks...frank...
Filter adapter These can be a pain sometimes, channel lock pliers, pipe wrench's etc. have been used. Usually boogers the threads, but with care can be done and repaired with a file or thread chaser. large easy out has also worked with some extra care and tenderness so as not to exspand the nipple. Not so sure I would worry to much about shavings though, good machinest and equiptment will make sure all is clean before releasing it to the customer. Boring and finish honing should keep all debris restricted to the cylinders themselves, if the block was washed with soap and water then rinsed before assy. should be suffecient. Of course if you feel more comfortable checking the filter adapter, then that is a good thing to do. New nipple in the tool box would be a good idea too.
