I recently bought an autometer electric gauge set to get rid of the mechanical one, the problem im having is the oil sending unit that came with the gauges is wayyyyyy too big to go where the stock one goes... any suggestions????? its a 302
You need a extension, was factory on vehicles with oil pressure gauges... About 6" long with a 45* angle threaded opening at end...
I'm not sure how much "real estate" you have, between the block/fire-wall/fenders. I used a brass "cross piece" (shaped like a "+". I used a short nipple to connect to the block, used one sender for the Idiot Light, another for the electric fuel pump shut-off, and the third for the electric oil pressure sending unit.
Plenty for sale on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...ion&_nkw=Ford+oil+pressure+extension&_sacat=0
Does that new gauge come with a warning light? If not, I would split that off an use both senders so that it would trip the idiot light too. You aren't always looking at the oil pressure gauge ... although the sound of lifters rattling usually gets my attention ...LOL. Been there ... twice .... both times before the idiot light lit up.
