They would have had a Z in the casting number. I think................ I could be wrong there but no they are not.

If that is a dod casting it could mean 1970 maverick. If it doesnt have a oval pushrod slot, could be a 1971 302 anything.:chirp:

You have to remember that a 302 was not offered in a Maverick in 70. Also I have stated that they are 351W heads. And the casting number is in fact 0609.

OK Guys and Gals, I need to get to bed. So I will reply to some other posts in the morning and will post 1 more pics tomorrow night. At that time it will all come into perspective as to the odd casting numbers and the odd way the heads are built.
So good night all, untill tomorrow.

Well the numbers decode it to be

    D 70s
    0 1970
    D Falcon/Maverick
    M Performance Vehicle/Holman Moody
    -
    A First Engineering Version

but of course that's just a casting number.

My best guess is with Dave, Mexican.

    DING DING DING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup :bananaman

They came off a 1977 Mexican 351W. The casting numbers denote 1976 but the block is a 77.
    Here is the last pic.
    Good Job Dave :dancing:

    Way to go Dave.

I just caught up with this thread ... I thought the guess for Mercruiser was great Darren. Probably would have said something similar myself.

I have an acquaintance here that lives on his 1970 boat ... it doesn't run ... he just likes living there. It has two 351Ws.

Mercruiser was one of my first thoughts, but then I remembered something like that we had at the dealership I worked at long ago, in pick up directly from Mexico.
