I just don't see than many Mavericks in the area let alone ones with big bumpers..............................the small bumpers sure make a difference in the appearance!
Looking really nice, wish you lived a little closer. One suggestion, you may want to brace the attachment to the cowl seam with some heavy metal............no pun intended.............and bolt it in 4 places with some adjustable clevis rods going form the cowl to shock mounts. I used an original export brace on a early Mustang once and took it road racing...............bent one side and tore the brace loose from the cowl..................at this point on the cowl you would not believe the twist and movement......................this brace came with the Maverick but I think the design is sound.............................................IMHO
Oldrdr. I like your brackets. Bet they would help. On this one I dont know that I need them anymore now that the shock towers are tied into the cage, dash bar, tower support exc. also putting a cross bar in the front ahead of the rad....?
Starting to come together. Column is in and holes for the guages done. Going to make a panel for the wiring msd exc. then pretty much paint time for in here. Made the tube for the column out of stainless. Bushings at each end for the shaft and a billet clamp to hold it to the dash bar. Also remade the firewall plate so its all one peice and welded to the column.
Millersrevenge, I guess I forgot about everything being tied to the front frame rail and cage, you are right, you probably won't need it. Looking really good...................it is definitely a race car now!
Here is a pic of the back half I did a couple years ago. Going to give it a fresh coat while its here and before I put the drag wheels back on it. Runs a 29.5 10.5w...lots of tire but keeps it consistent. Dont know if you guys know but Rick led the points for most of last year but had to miss a couple races so finished second. (dont know how since he cant drive)
Tried to take a pic of everything for you. Ended up building a console for the guages to make them more driver friendly. Overhead switch panel and helmet hook that you can get at while belted in. Driver comfort and ease of use can go a long way some times. Going to put a water bottle on the side of the console for those days when your cooking in the lanes aswell.
Awesome job Paul! Really nice and friendly in the car now...test & tune in 2 weeks..can't wait to launch this now!
