I just saw that car on ebay....did you buy it there?

Sorta.....it is the Maverick Power Tour....the Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI) Roundup Nationals. That was one of the years it was held in New Castle, Indiana. The picture was taken on the square in historic downtown Knightstown, Indiana.

Since you now have this car, here is a picture you might not have seen. This is the exact same car, now YOUR car, from the 9th Annual MCCI Roundup Nationals way back in 2002.

If you look on the back window, you can see some writing. Chuck was taking a vote on what to do with the car. The choices were either a Taxi replica...or a police replica. One voted by picking up the wax pencil and casting a vote by writing it on the back glass. I guess we know which won!! He brought it back the very next year looking like this, just didn't have the stripes done yet.

Well, it's a long story and I will feel you in...I apologize for the length. The fellow who had it on eBay is a friend of mine...and is a very good "Car Guy" (fab and engine) but more of a "Chevy-Guy". He picked up the car from Chuck when we both seen it soley to "flip it"....I being a Ford Guy told him the car was nice....he thought he had an immediate buyer but the buyer backed out...so he parked the car, drove it...had it parked in from of his garage with a For Sale sign on it, and actually had me list it on eBay one time then he listed it himself. He was asking a very "High Ball" figure (wanting to make a killing) and earlier turned down some fair offers. He was involved in so many other projects (he owns buildings and is doing 3 other cars), the Maverick just sat there, outside, getting dirty and dinged (one ding). Just yesterday I was down seeing him, seen the Maverick sitting in the parking lot (one of his buildings) and said; "Come on man...you can't let that thing sit like a regular old car....what are you going to do with it?". He looked at it and said...make me an offer (knowing I just sold my "77" and liked Mavericks). I made him an offer (from a distance) not thinking he would accept...but with the other projects going on...winter right arond the bend.....to my surprise he accepted. So she is sitting in my driveway as I type...along with the 86 Fiero in my garage which I got on the "77" Maverick sale and trade...so thats the scoop on the Maverick.

Wow...those pics and history is great! I want to talk to Chuck and find out what I can on the "re-build", e.g. type of paint, what exactly he did to the engine....any upgrades (ones that I can't see myself), just get some basic info on the car. Me being a somewhat "retired" Deputy Sheriff (still active with the Reserve Dept.) just may complete it as a Police Editions, e.g. back (removable) protectice screen, shot gun rack on the screen, old police radio, siren and some hiddent stobes in the grill and lights....not sure....I was also thinking about either "shaving" the door handles or tracking down some "flush fitting" mat black handles...jsut not sure. Any idea if those wheels are "Lincoln" or "Jaguar" wheels?

    That's a nice looking 4 door :thumbs2:

At one time, I was looking for a Feiro after I learned that somebody made a kit to put a 455 Pontiac in the same place where the little 4 banger sat. I don't know if the kit is still made but what a project that would make.

Every time I pick up a car (usually one every year, swap meets etc.) I immediately start doing research on them. These Fieros are crazy. There are unbeliebable Ero "Body Kits" avaialbe...making them look like a $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ero Sport Car....all kind of "Engine Swap" kits....everything from any Big Block GM to the new Corvette LS Engines. The mid engine sits on a "cradle" and once everything is disconnected (a good six pack job) you simply lift the back end up of the Fiero and slide her (engine) out...then do your thing. Not sure what I am going to do with this Fiero...she's a "Six Cyclinder" 5 Speed and I've heard they run fairly good...been sitting for years...needs some work, body, interior and engine, but runs and drives...came with a bunch of parts...just haven't made up my mind....Hey, you know anybody interested, before I get going somebody can purchase a great "project Fiero" for a great price!

I dunno, still hard for me not to think of a 4dr as a parts car...

4 doors can be just as much, if not more fun, than 2 doors! I have a 61 Comet 4 door that I am in the process of building...room to haul the family around and even more important, power that no expects!

I know just yesterday when I was bringing the "4doorBeauty" home I stopped and got gas...got just as many looks and comments as my 2 door Maverick...many said they weren't aware that Maverick made a 4 door...also as stated above....man when I take the "Grandkids" for a ride or me and my buds drive to the local Casino....(in class), the 4 door is a nice surprise....come on now, it's a 1975 Maverick Classic...if I can track down one of those "Brazilian Maverick Wagons", I would have one of those. 4 doors and wagons (any model) I starting to show up and get appreciated at all the Car Shows and Swap Meets......

Right out of high school, my first car was a 4 door Falcon but I didn't have much of a choice back then. I would have preferred a 2 door car. The 4 door cars used to be known as grocery getters back in the 70's but I think that they really gained a lot of respect since the current market is flooded with 4 doors now and, in fact, 2 doors are getting harder to find anymore it seems. I look at them a lot differently now :thumbs2:

Exactly...if I would take these door handles and either shave the doors and put "poppers" in..........or if I can track down or make fit some of the "flush mount" handleds...paint them black...I think it would change the entire apperance fo the Maverick....anybody know if they make or if another model "flush mount" door handles are available?

Ford Crown vic "HPP" wheels. 16". They were available on the Crown Vics late 90's to early 2000's that had the Handling and Performance Package.

Paul got the wheels question answered for you.

Just contact Chuck. His contact info is on the Maverick Comet Club International, Inc. (MCCI) website as he is the West Virginia State Rep. He is a super nice guy and I am sure he would answer any questions you may have. (y)

I would rather have the national lampoon summer vacation chevy chase station wagon than a 4 door Maverick but if you like it buy it to each his own
