Calypso Coral was a factory Mustang color in 1970, I think it may have been offered on Mavericks as well? Maybe called Vermillion? I have seen many Torinos and Cougars painted this color and it looks great on all body styles.
Debut '70 Orange Maverick First post to Maverick Forum! Since you're asking about orange Mav's I thought I'd put up a pic of mine. It's a '70... 200 CI 6 cyl. I got a great deal on it just over 1 year ago. 52800 original miles - I've added about 1500. It needs some work - mostly tune-up and tightening, but it's kind of taking over as primary transportation. As I live in the city (San Francisco), I don't get that many miles on it, but... city miles... I'd like to go to disk brakes, and the suspension could be beefier (I'm not a small person). It's entirely stock, now, including the paint. I don't know the color designation - I've yet to see a swatch from the literature that shows this exact color. Kevin Anderson San Francisco, CA
i've got a 70 that's orange. my grandaughter calls it jack. short for jack-o-lantern. says all i need is the green stem.
^"Mr. Modest"^ Ed, (fan2488) has a very nice orange Maverick. I will continue to harrass Mr. Ed until he puts some pictures of it in his gallery. Signed, A Fan of fan2488
Kevin's car looks like it is Vermillion...or didn't they call it "Thanks Vermillion" or some type of stoner name like that? Orange of any shade looks great on mavericks.
Yep, vermillion, I believe... Yep, I'm pretty sure it's vermillion, but it doesn't quite match the swatches I've seen. I suppose 36 years can do that to paint, but the color is consistant on the unexposed areas, like under the trunk lid, the hood and the doors and posts. Thanks for the compliments... makes me feel real good... There are plenty of issues to deal with - mostly maintenance. I'd like to put in newer bucket seats (reclining) so I'll fit better in the car. I'm dealing with a carburetor problem right now, it leaks. I should probably take that discussion over to another category... Kevin
