Hey guys ...
Wondering if anyone knew the codes for the "Grabber" Blue and Black ??
Grabber Blue = J
Okay is the name of the color actually Grabber Blue??
what year did that color start in ??
Mine is a 2012 grabber blue in basecoat/clearcoat. Ford paint code is CI, it's a little darker than the original single stage grabber blue.
Wow, that looks sharp !!
I like it, thanks for the info !!
Started in 1970 in a Maverick. Maybe sooner in a Mustang/Cougar?
1970 in the Mustang. My 1970 Fastback was one of the 70 Grabber Special Value package cars. Came in Grabber Blue. -Matt
Code A for black at least on my Comet GT. ford number 1724-A. Incidentally the Comet GT in code J was Competition Blue. -Matt
To the OP:
Grabber Blue and Competition Blue were the same colour, just a different name. It was common practice to give the Mercury colours a more "palatable" name to coincide with the Mercury image.
Always go by the Ford paint number or the PPG numbers. In 72, the Ford paint codes all went to alpha-numeric codes (3F for Grabber Blue).
Here's a link I saved from another thread on this forum (sorry, can't remember who) that might be helpful.
Separate names with a comma.
