The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Something that hasn't been mentioned is that Ford sometimes didn't get the code right. My door tag says 3M but my cars original paint was actually 3B. I've also heard of mustang/cougar guys having a similar situation.

I truly believe it was flat black not satin. This is the second stallion I have owned with the original paint still on it and it just seems flat. Unless we have some documentation from ford, respectfully, I am going flat...

Awesome! Can you post some pics of yours? I've got a white one too. Is yours a 6 cyl or 302 car? Tell us a little about it.

    Yes

I can post some pics Monday. Mine is not restored and has had a previous repaint that covered over the decals. I bought it on March 29, 1999 for $800. Its kinda rough, but still has less than 100,000 original miles. Everything works, even the AC. The 250 is getting very worn out so I am going thru a 200 from a 72 parts car getting it ready to install in about two weeks. Mine has the base interior and exterior. Bench seat in cloth, etc, etc. Options on car are: AC
    AM Radio
    Power Steering
    Automatic transmission
    250
    Power Brakes
    Tinted Glass
It has been a good car. Only repairs required have been one set of brake shoes and pads, one can R12, master cylinder, and new slave cylinder hoses. Other than that just routine maintenance. I have 12 other cars, so it does not get my undivided attention. However I do take care of it. As I do my other vehicles as well! I figure i'll never have to buy a car again. If each one lasts three years, that's 36 years in which time I'll be 80! Doubt if I'll still be driving then. I have been very lucky in my car purchases. I have always bought cheap, but have gotten good cars with many good years left in them. Of course, I bought the first (A 71 2dr Maverick which I still have) on Nov. 21, 1983 and the last on April 22, 2004. So I have been able to be cautious. Total initial purchase price for all 12 cars only totals $6875. That's an average of $572.19 cents each. Well below market value.
I've always been a cheap bastard! Always will be. Of course the downside is none will ever get completely restored. All I do is keep them maintained and repaired when neccesary. I don't cheap out there.
