Thanks Mavaholic :tiphat:. It's a PPG polyurethane, paint code P85. Electric Blue Pearlcoat. Being that pearlcoat paint doesn't have much depth to it I had a medium grain metalflake added. After a day or so, I'll do a 2000 wet sand. Then I'll use a fine lotion compound. Should make it "pop" a little more.

Right now it's a toss up between 14"x7" aluminum slots or 17"x8" polished chrome Cobra R's. Decisions...decisions :90:. Trying to get it done in time for Lonnies cookout. Still have to install the new dash cap, new seats, tint the windows etc. etc.

I think painting the bumpers was the right decision!

Glad you guys like it ! However, I think I'm going to forego the Gapp & Roush clone. A G&R clone should have at least a 302 in it if not a 351. But this drivetrain is so new and drives so well I can't bring myself to tear it out. I'm thinking I might put silver or gunmetal stripes on it, and make it a cruiser.

Nice job, and I agree that painting the bumpers was the right way to go, makes the big bumpers look a little less bulky IMO.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Question though, if I put dual stripes from the hood bulge, across the roof and on the trunk, should the area around the tail lights be painted to match the stripes ? Thinking of using metallic silver or gunmetal or maybe white (?) approx. 7" wide with a 1/4" or 1/2" border stripe. Just thought of something else, is striping across the roof needed ? Would it look stupid without it ? Just don't want to "add" to the length of the car.
    Thanks, Darrel

Maybe someone can computer generate an image to give you a better idea before you paint. I'm not fond of stripes myself, but thats JMO.

If you go across the roof and tail panel.....I would also do the rear bumper as well.

Don't stripe it up,I would put a grey section on the hood(like a '70 grabber)and paint the tail panel to match.Since the bumpers are painted, even though I'm a slot fan I think the cobra r's would look the best.

Looks real good! I would definately go with the Cobra R's. They will look better with the painted bumpers I think. What are the tail lights off of?

Tail lights are from a 69 Cougar. I cut out the vertical chrome slats and filled in the bevel, painted `em black. Initially I had the lights installed as they were on the Cougar but they stuck out too far. So I re-installed them with the bulky part of the housing inside the trunk. Looks much better.
