Update time. After talking to my brother some more about what to do with my Mustang project we got more into his car and he decided (or agreed with me finally) that gloss black would be the way to go. Its cleaner, lasts longer, easier to wash, etc.

I still wasnt quite sure on what color stripe or pinstripes he wanted. we talked about different things on his car and mine but he wasnt positive what he would do yet. So I was still unsure if we should paint the car for him and have me decide how it will be done. His wife came up with the idea of having it started, all body work done and jambs done, reassembled, and base coat done. This way he can come home and she will take him to his car which will be all black and togethor. Then he can decide what details and colors for stripes before it gets cleared and trim put back on.

I dropped the car off on Saturday. It has 2 weeks to be done in base coat and 3 weeks to complete.

You can always do it yourself, You only need a little soapy water, a heat gun, and 3M di-noc vynil= around $1500 total depending on the price You can get the vynil. :)

GOOD PLAN!! I was concerned that his homecoming surprise might not be so pleasant. I hated the lack of control I had over my life in the (peace time) Army. Last thing I'd want is loss of control over my project. You worked it out.

My dad owned a vinyl sign shop until about a year ago. We priced out getting my comet done in vinyl, came out to about $3k, which would have covered all the fees to his designer to get the vinyl to fall perfect into the curves. We did an initial design and then my dad got sick and the project fell through. It was way too bad, we were going to use it to advertise the business.
