Maaco is a franchise business so that means they all not run the same way. I'm sure there are some out there who do try to put out a decent product and treat their employees right. The one I worked for was not one of them. We HAD, I repete HAD, to get 10 cars a day painted or we got nothing but grief about it. As you might guess, we had a high turn over in help and it showed in the finished product. We also had a large number of lawsuits for poor bodywork. I used to call the place a butcher shop for cars. I am SO glad I don't work there anymore. After all I saw take place there, I still would never recommend anyone have their car painted there. In the end it still boils down to this; you get what you pay for.

 i had a car that i preped and cut in the fenders and doors. maaco put the paint on. about three months later a bubble came up on the top. i was at a car wash and hit the bubble and the whole top of the car blew up like a ballon. $3.25 later i had blown all the paint off except that i had put on. when i went back they said my primer was too slick. it wasn't too slick for the paint i put on. you can give a 5 year old a rattle can and they will put paint on stuff a sand blaster want take off. and i don't mean stuff that has been preped. sorry, that was 20 years ago and seems like yesterday.. i guess you could say i vote no to maaco...frank...
p.s. as this was happening people were driving by and turnning around to come back and see what was goining on. when i left there were sheets of paint two foot sq. stuck to the walls of the car wash.:D :D funny now.

Since we are on the subject of paint. I got a quote from a "Friend"
    who owns a body shop.
I'm gonna do some minor prep work and he is gonna take it from there.
In order for him to guarentee the job for life...yes a lifetime warranty, he has to do most of the prep work.
Useing PPG paint and going back with the same colors.
    Cost 1500.00 dollars.
Seems like a good price to me...what do yall think?

    Maaco paint job

    Do Not Go To Maaco

I had my truck painted there 2 years ago, them fixing rust and all. They painted the truck twice, 1st time for runs on every panel, the second time for trash and more runs. Was to repaint the third time but all they did was sand runs and trash add a clear coat,
which they got runs in all the panels again. They then refused to do any more and said he would see me in court before he would paint the truck again.
Today all the spots they fixed are rusted out again twice as bad as they were before, and I still have all the runs. Getting ready to redo the truck again, this time myself. Figure if I can spray finish on antique pianos for glass like finish. I should be able to spray
half descent paint job on a truck. Just my 2 cents on Maaco!

    Thanks
    Allen Small

I think $1500 is a very good price. I use PPG on all my cars and just for paint alone, I have spent as much as $800 per car.

$1500 is a good deal. The only paint we use is PPG and we have no compliants with it. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it.

Thats what he said...PPG and Sherwin williams are the only Paint manufaturers that will back there paint with a lifetime warranty.
He said he had One problem with there paint...the customer brought it in and the PPG rep told him to make it right no matter what it took and they would pay for it.
Thats a pretty strong statement as to the quality of there product.

I used Glazurit paint on my car (very high dollar) the materials were $1000 dollars. The paint job itself cost about $500. I took it to a local guy, said he could make it super slick. He lied!! Two months later I noticed a spiderweb starting to pop up on the passenger fender. Then a couple months later a noticed a small spot bubbling up on the driver side door!! Needless to say, make sure all the prepwork is done correctly. You can buy the best paint in the world but if the prepwork is not good you just wasted your money on the good paint!!

    Black w/green flames "nay"

A good choice on flames for black would be "GHOST SMOKE FLAMES" very subtle and attractive.
Anyhow it's your choice and whatever you choose you'll be right!
