My passenger side windshield wiper arm is loose at it's pivot point behind the instrument cluster but I can't see whats missing... the retaining pin is still there so what gives? the wiper arm has alot of play at the pivot shaft. but I don't see how anything could have fallen out though. I can't get a good view of it because the connector from the blade to pivot point is on the opposite side of the part it connects to. Any ideas how I can fix this? thanks.

Maybe the (3) retaining bolts/screws on the other side of the cowl are loose?

The wiper mount itself is secure the loose part is the pivot point behind the instrument cluster.

The wiper linkage suppose to be kinda loose but not ready to fall off loose. I think Craig is talking about these bolts.

those bolts are fine it's the part the other end of that shaft connects to. joe yor probably right but it went from tight to loose and clanking all at once, is there any way to remedy the situation without replacing the whole shaft?

Does any one have a picture of the wiper motor output shaft where the pivot arms connect to? with the pivot arms on? I need to see a example of one in "proper" condition... Thank you.

All I have. The next time I am at the shop, I could get some close-ups because my wiper motor and arms are out of the car right now.

hhmmm... thanks... I'm trying to see how much play and if there is anything above or below the pivot arm bushing assembly on the output shaft... thank you.

On a side note, how freaken small where the ford engineers hands where they said that you could work on this through the instrument cluster opening...
