My goal is to do the best job I can. I imagine the thing that keeps most people out of that corner is the plumbing and wiring, etc that I have removed. It was a nice warm day out, and perfect for working outside. It's -4*C or about 26*F.

 

Man, people are sucks...when it comes to cold.

 

I actually like working outside when it's colder out but when it gets too cold the air lines freeze up. I sand blasted and painted my axle housing outdid last weekend and it was only 40F at the highest. I had to spray, bring it inside, take it outside to spray again and bring it back in etc.. And repeat for two coats of epoxy and two coats of SEM Hotrod black. Came out great though.

I notice under the gas tank the bottom of the car is yellow is the rest of the bottom yellow or red primer. What would be correct for my 72 comet...
body colour or red primer.

My floor pans still have undercoating on them, but I believe what you'll find is red oxide primer with yellow over-spray. I believe the Kansas cars were Red Primer, and the St Thomas cars were black (e-coat).

 

Well, I haven't done any work on my car in the last few weeks. The weather and my work schedule has not aligned for completing any more blasting in the engine compartment. Frustrated with not getting anything done and losing motivation to continue, I took my frustration out on my income tax return.

I ordered what I believe to be ALL of the pieces I will need to complete the car this year. Once I have them in-hand, there shouldn't be anything holding me back and preventing me from driving the car this summer (sometime).

The major (but not all) pieces I ordered are:

• Firewall Insulation
• Headliner
• Back Seat/Trunk Divider
• Carpet
• ALL Front Steering/Suspension Components
• Roller Bearing Spring Perches
• Pertronix Kit

If one could build a car by sitting in front of a computer, I could have had three cars done by now...

 

Someone needs a heated garage.....

 

It IS heated, but I'm not turning my whole garage into a sand blasting cabinet. I just need a couple of sunny afternoons above -10*C where I'm not at work, or not running kids to Gymnastics, Dance, Swimming and Brownies... so I can finish sand blasting the front end of the car.

 

When the weather breaks you'l get the motivation, especially when you have a pile of fresh and shiny parts to install...

That's my problem, the shiny is mostly installed, just need to finish some wiring and other things that don't give the appearance of having gotten much accomplished...

 

Paul, I need the same parts, carpet, fire wall insul, trunk div and headliner. Would like to see your parts when they come in. I'll bring my work clothes and give ya a hand on the week-end. Just PM me if you need a hand.

 

Thanks Mike!! That sounds good! I have to have everything shipped into Calais, and I'll have to wait for the wife to go for a day trip and get the stuff. I'm a ways away from installing them, but you're welcome to come down anytime! I'll let you know when I get them. I'm pretty excited to see what they look like, too. The firewall insulation is back ordered from Auto Krafters...

 

The firewall insulation....is it supposed to be cut to match the original? I was not aware of this product.

 

Yes Craig, it is. From the Auto Krafters catalogue:

A bit 'pricey' at $195, but I really wanted a factory look and ease of installation.

I will definitely let everyone know how it fits... IF I ever get it. It is STILL back ordered, along with a few other things from Auto Krafters.

Moving on... I did get a few hours to spend on blasting today. I unfortunately ended up running out of sand, as I hadn't made it in town this past week to get more.

I'm sure people are getting tired of seeing my partially-blasted engine compartment pictures, but to me, it's progress...
