Looking really sharp, at least you can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally

My cousin from out-of-town came down for the day, and he and his father gave me a hand putting the engine and transmission back in the car. I am pretty happy with all the progress I have been making this week. I am hoping to have everything plumbed-up and filled for a fire-up this weekend...

Got my shift linkage, starter, trans dipstick tube, radiator, fuel line, power steering return hose and pump, choke heater tube and charcoal canister plumbing ALL installed. I took the picture before the charcoal canister plumbing was installed...

Thanks guys! Cell phone pictures hide a multitude of sins... :D

I'm pretty happy with the progress. Once I get my driveshaft detailed and new U-joints installed, I will fill the trans and other fluids, and maybe have a drive in by next weekend. Fingers crossed.

I decided I did not want to wait for a new alternator, and there really wasn't anything wrong with my original one (other than looking old and grimey), so I decided to save myself a couple hundred dollars and a week of time and refurbished my old one. I also managed to get the drive shaft and yoke cleaned-up and ready for U-joints and paint.

    Uhhh, oooK

    Seriously that's great...

BTW You have better faith than myself, can't say I've ever started a long time setting, new engine, etc with the air cleaner in place...

Thanks Tom! He's playing hard-to-get, so I guess I have to step-up my game... maybe take him out to dinner first??? LOL

I did take the air cleaner lid off to squirt some gas down the bowl vent and give it a power-drink down the bore, but really, there wasn't much to lose faith about... I marked the distributor before I took it out, and followed the instructions on the Pertronix kit. All I REALLY changed on this engine was the gaskets and new paint... What could POSSIBLY go wrong??? :D

Almost forgot to replace my alternator splash shield. The old one has seen better days. It's quite the job trying to figure out exactly how it goes...

Did all these cars come w/ the alt. splash shield? I have been to 2 MCCI events and 2 Gathering. I can't recall seeing it on any of them. Interesting.

Only 6 cyl cars with air conditioning got them. Not sure why Paul's car has one.
