Think you need enough vacuum to pull the plunger in the PCV valve all the way toward the vacuum source. Doubt you'll get it from the air cleaner.

That's the problem I'm having. Pulled the PCV valve out of the valve cover to check to see if the plunger was being pulled all the way by vacuum on idle. Its not. I ordered the billet PCV valve from Summit. If the plunger in that one isn't pulled all the way on idle, the valve can be disassembled. Hope to mod it if needed to get full travel on idle.

Did you make some kind of baffle under the PCV valve?

Enough to overcome the spring pressure in the valve

(Open at idle / closed at wot)

That being said the pcv port on a air cleaner is just a fresh air referance point and a wot vent for the crankcase your edelbrocl breather serves the same function

    Oil Separator/PCV Valve?

Seems like a combination oil separator/PCV valve that would slip into the valve cover grommet and drain the collected oil back under the valve cover would be useful in keeping oil mist out of the air/fuel mix. Anyone know of one?

Googled "oil separator PCV" and found there are a number of oil sepaators around, e.g., http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=ST49+01 Unfortunately, they don't put the collected oil back in the crankcase but rather, " in a tube that can be drained and recycled". Yeah, right!! Well, maybe if you're worried about drips in your driveway or garage.

Think I'll put the oil separator on my wish list. Would be nice to know how much oil is passing thru the PCV valve.

Frank, since you've tapped into the valley cover maybe you could put the drain there too if you wanted an oil separator..
