They are tentatively planning on a March show next year----it ought to be cooler! (I'm all for a spring show, myself). I'll try and get a date out of them as soon as I can. (Hopefully it won't be February 28th)!
LOL! Our own grill . We'll show THEM how to eat. Maybe we can change the name to "All Mavericks Comets and oh yea, Mustangs" . j/k I kinda like the sound of Mesquite or Denton for a gathering/show
Why didn't we think of this before? I got my trans installation finished about 10 minutes ago, so we are ready for some shows now!!!
[I kinda like the sound of Mesquite or Denton for a gathering/show [/QUOTE] Great! I can get there a whole lot quicker (if I drive 80-85 like I did yesterday coming home!) There could be a few more added to the list, I know there a several around here.
It was really a great time, I missed the photo op having left early around 1 PM. I knew I liked this group out here early on just from my web experiences, but was astounded at the friendliness and acceptance. If these guys represent a small part of this group as a whole, you should be proud. Looking over the cars REALLY made me want a Maverick all that much more! Rick was impressive, driving his '72 down from Dallas; he spent time on the highway between Gene and I. Good grief, you'd think his 250 was a V8 - it sounded AWESOME. For the guy above who asked, he put on about 300 miles round trip to the show. Great guy, great car. Doc's LDO blew me away, what an outstanding car, a beaut of an original, we had a great time chatting, the guy has a great sense of humor and we made friends real fast. His attention to detail is impeccable, I ribbed him a lot on the little things Randy, Doug, thanks also for sharing some time with this greenhorn, you guys had great cars that you are obviously proud of, and I look forward to meeting again Only complaint? The music was WAYYYYY too loud, good grief, it's a car show, you don't need four 6 foot tower arrays blasting at 95dB. Yeah, I have hearing loss, and this did not help in any way whatsoever. My ears were trashed on the drive home. Special thanks to Gene, whom without my meeting here first on this group (and helping me with my own car) I would not have been fortunate enough to find out about the show and meet a great group of guys. Next year (hopefully) you'll have a Pinto nearby. Chris
I wish I could have made it out. I even took Friday off work to try and get the bugs worked out of the car so I could make it. As soon as I'd fix one thing another would come up. Problems fixed this weekend: -car overheating. - Timing was set WAAAAAY to high. 25* at idle. I have no idea how that happened. -Flushing motor and radiator full of rust - I built a screen filter and flush and repeat... I think I have most of it out now. -Loud popping noise coming from front passenger suspension.- I have been trying to figure this one out for a month. I replaced both upper AND lower ball joins on the NEW Total Control Products Suspension. It took forever to troubleshoot this as who would have guessed that new parts would be broken with so few miles on them. TCP tech line was very little help. Try finding a lower ball joint for a "late 60's MOPAR" (thats the only clue tech support could give me) is not as easy as one might think. There are 6 possibillities and no SINGLE shop had them all. I finally tracked the correct part down Sunday afternoon. Then I had to find a tool to do the job. How about a 48mm wrench. I got to Northern Tool 10 minutes before they closed and found one. The actual job only took 45 minutes to do but all day finding the part and tools to do it. Car is fixed now and ready for cruising. 2 days too late. I drove all over the Metroplex last night just enjoying the rumble of the exhaust and evening air.
Doug and I shared a pic of you (car) there so it was kinda like you were there . My crunch time didn't have enough time either. I went in my wifes Trailblazer. Now I/we have 6 months or so to get it ready for the next show.
Too funny. Thanks for making part of the meet. Anyone going to Lonestar Goodguys this weekend? I might cruise out there Friday night - Saturday depending on when we decide to leave for Biloxi.
I thought I overheard "Goodguys" mentioned by some other members. Maybe that is what they were conversing about, I thought it was about me . I can't go.
Yup, heading for Goodguys this weekend. Will be there Saturday most of the day. Looking forward to it, hope the weather holds out! Chris
