yes and no got some email from his people, may be alot more work there. I still need to get a jist of how this is going before i commit to anything. about what to due with the cars if we win, the only fair thing i can see doing is to ebay them both and donate the money to a charity. I ve been on the horn with a few people I know in the performance industry. some are willing to help only if it is a charitible thing. some of it could turn out to be major stuff (complete race engines, trans, turbos, back half, alot of posssiblities). I have already put alot of time in to this if it happens or not, I talked alot of cool people and got some very good intrust in this type of thing out side the maverick world as well.
I don't have time to help or resources to provide, but I will make a suggestion. Work the donation angle AND the Vega angle. Contact a Vega, or Monza, or similar mid '70 FORD "competitor" car club. Get that club to agree to put together a similar ride and agree that WIN, LOSE, or DRAW the cars get auctioned on EBAY (or other method) and the proceeds go to the winning team's choice of charity. Get that deal worked out and THEN you can get back with the PINKs people. I assume they get TONS of entries and need some twists. They are probably tired of late model 'stangs with smallblocks and a 2-stage. Talk about good PR for the Maverick image and for SPEED channel. There is no way they don't schedule that shoot! Now back to my beer
Well i dont think any sane person(who is devoted to car racing and restoration, who put all that time and money into the car)would risk lossing it.
Many of the cars are slapped together for the show (allegedly) I have read somewhere that the "competitors" use the show to showcase their racecar building attributes, to drum up business for their budding companies. I do agree with some of the comments made by others, I gave up on the show long ago, but I think if you got some other group to race against with a common goal of donating both cars to a charitable organization, the show would probably be more interested in having you on.
