Hello everyone! It was brought to my attention for the second time that something I said at last years club meeting sounded differently than I intended it too. I was told that I said that State Reps have no responsiblilities. I'm sorry if it came out that way. What I ment by what I said, is that, State Reps are a contact person for MCCI members and potential members in there respective state. Also, State Reps are encouraged to hold a MCCI mini-meet every year. But of course we cannot force anyone to hold a mini-meet, and of course anyone, not just state reps, can hold a mini-meet. We would like to see state reps assist any member who would like to hold a mini-meet in there state. State reps can contact Seth Robers (State Rep Coordinator) for assistance with holding a mini-meet. If anyone wants to hold a mini-meet they need to contact seth with the details so it can be put in the newsletter and on the MCCI web site. I apologize for the mix-up. I just wish it wouldn't have taken 8 months to hear there was confusion about the statement I made. I have an open door policy, if any one needs clarification on a subject, or has ideas that they think will help advace are club in a positive directions, please feel free to contact me. My e-mail address and phone number are readily availible to all members. To contact me on the board is not the best place to get an answer, I don't get a chance to come to the board as often as I would like and I may not get your message. If you decide to call please keep in mind I get up very early for work, 2:30am. So please try not to call after 7:30pm est. With the exception of this weekend (4/28-4/30), I don't mind calls on the weekend. Shawn
Gees I musta slept thru that Shawn we have talked several times and I never knew you were that way. ......now in all honesty I think you are doing a great job. I always found you to be helpfull and honest. Robert
Well shawn, I was 1 that heard you say that state reps didnt have to do anything.. If no need to do anything then why would any one want to be a rep.. A rep should be required to host at least 1 mini meet, promote Maverick and Comet cars ,and promote the MCCI. I hope the others that heard it come forward.. If you want to talk to me fell free to call. you have access to my number.. TTFN RON
All I can say is that when we start paying them we can make them hold mini-meets. Otherwise they are volunteers, and we don't exactly have other members knocking down our doors to take the places of the reps who may not be holding mini-meets on a regular basis. This is an issue that the State rep coordinator can handle if a member would like to step up and take charge in there state. Shawn
Yes. Any current MCCI member can hold a mini-meet as long as they contact their state rep for assistance. If a member does not have a state rep, they would contact Seth Roberts the MCCI State rep coordinator for assistince. The state reps and state rep coordinator will provide you with the guidelines the MCCI has for holding an official mini-meet. Shawn
Did I miss the announcement that Wes had stepped down and Seth had taken over his responsibilities? I wanna say this, Wes is "top shelf" in my book, a better person you will never meet. Seth is a great guy and I couldn't think of a better choice to fill the position. A little story from my first Round-up...some guy brings a Comet out to sale on Saturday(show day) wants way to much money for it (rust bucket) Donald Drennen says something about buying it and Wes is on the car like "white on rice", by the time Wes is done I think the seller wanted to pay Donald to take the car, he took his Comet and went home with his tail between his legs. I would think if you want to be a state rep then you want to promote the club, our cars, membership and host a mini-meet, if you don't want to do these things then you need to step down and let someone that will, while I'm just getting around to hosting a meet, I've taken ever allowable oppurtunity to attend other states meets. Now that there are enough known Mav/Comet owners in the state of South Carolina I felt the time was right to host a meet. I gotta stop drinkin espresso when I'm at the computer
I think I have said this a hundred times, just not on here. You don't even have to be in the MCCI to have a mini-meet. Just get a bunch of people together and have a good time. It's not like the MCCI controls all of us and we have no choice but to be in the MCCI to have a mini-meet. If you are not a member then it's just not an official 'MCCI' mini-meet, but it's still a mini-meet. If you want the club to recognize it and put it in the newsletter then you need to be a member. Does that mean I don't think we should promote the club? No, but I've seen questions from people on here that just make me laugh -- the MCCI does not control people or mini-meets. If ya wanna have a get-together, then have one! If you are going to be a state rep, then I think you should be required to at least try to put together a meet, and promote the club. Otherwise, you are of no benefit to the club.
Oh-oh, I think we need to check Matts program, he's been fiddlin with the ones and zeros again!! But what he says is true. Its all about having fun while you can. I doubt there are any Mavericks in Heaven and I know there's none where I'm going. Their all melted. :evilsmile
All Maverick Mini-meets that are not organized by the MCCI are illegal and will be shut down by the local authorities. All Mavericks and comets at these illegal mini-meets will be impounded and donated to the MCCI for distribution to a worthy MCCI member.
i like you guys and all, but mr mossberg and the blade on my side may have a few words to say about someone who thinks theyre going to confiscate my car for ANY reason. no hard feelings though
Just to clarify what was said last year, I was sitting right next to Shawn. He did say that there were no expectations of the state reps. I didn't bring it up then as I felt at the time that he said exactly what he meant to and didn't want to start something right then. I was pretty much in shock at the statement and sometimes what I say is not exactly what I mean when I was pretty much as angry as I was right then. The wording and statement were pretty much straightforward and was hard to misunderstand. I know there was a bit of chat in the corridor after the meeting because of just that statement. We all heard the same thing. My eyesight may be going a bit downhill with age, but not my hearing. I do know from my past experiences that some feel that volunteers cannot be called upon to do much because of just that, they volunteer. Others feel that no matter if you're volunteering or being compensated, the job is just that. I happen to be one of those that feel that if you take on a title and position, there are expectations that must be fulfilled. To be honest, this was one of the reasons I resgined my position. I felt that what was the use of holding a title, one of a position that some didn't feel necessary much less with me in it. There were others also. I felt quite betrayed especially when I tried to do the best job I could and after the berating I took right after my appointment was announced. As to Rick's comment about the '04 event and the Drennen thing, thanks. I hate to see anyone taken advantage of and I felt that Don was heading right in this direction. The seller was a local, not one of us. I cannot see any of us trying to pull what this guy was trying to do, especially within our own ranks. I went over with him and looked at the Comet. Don's a great guy and was just guilty of not being estute enough of knowing what to look for at that time and getting excited over the prospect of having another car in his stable. We all were in that stage at one time and some weren't lucky enough to have someone in their corner. I just didn't want to see him do something he was bound to regret later.
