Polished up some of my trim parts today

    Yes....best to do all that while the car is getting painted.......:burnout:

    Man, that trim looks great , so you first spray them with oven cleaner and let the cleaner sit for how long? What polish do you use to buff them? I have side moulding and I've tried everything from oven cleaner , vinger with baking soda, rubbing compound and no results. Please let me know so I can try it again. I spend three hours and no shine. Thanks Jerry

    The easy off takes 2 to 3 applications over about 30 to 45 minutes (its a pain) Anything with a high concentration of sodium hydroxide will cut the anodize. Are you certain the trim is anodized aluminum??? It may be stainless steel. I use Tripoli compound on a buff motor. Doing it by hand you will not get the luster you can achieve with a proper buff motor and compounds. Aluminum requires two steps...Stainless requires 3 with 3 different compounds...Hope this sheds some light on it for you...Good luck!!!
