I know what you're saying and if it's a daily driver and you don't have the time to keep it clean, then black would be the easy way out. I guess I'm fortunate that the dealership keeps me in a new vehicle all the time as my daily driver. Heck, I don't even have to clean it...I got people for that.
Your engine compartment is beautiful, Dennis, but I'd never be able to keep mine that clean, because I actually drive my car...
I drive my car as much as possible, although I avoid bad weather at all cost. If you think a white engine compartment is hard to keep clean, try keeping a white undercarriage clean.
I guess I will put my two cents in Tammys car is semi gloss and it is a pain to clean for the shows. Here in California we have alot of dust and it looks like crap on the black, you can't just spray it down to clean it you must wipe it. I have found that WD-40 works the best but it also attracks more dust for the next time . The new car is being painted body color I'm banking this will make a difference simply because the amount of time preping the compartment for body color should make it easier to clean (smoother).......................I hope
I have 2 1972 Comets both were one owner cars before me and had not been painted. The 72 GT was satin black under the hood and the 72 2dr was body color. I don't know why they were this way. I also bought a new 1971 GT that was raven black with raven black under the hood.
First of all Dennis i'm jealous that looks outstanding!!The only argue ment i have is the my 64 Merc pick up is body color under hood and all i do is wipe it down once in a while. When it gets real dirty i just wash it like the rest of the truck, very easy to keep clean. Also it is painted base/clear under hood too.I'll post some pics after.Derek.
I would go with black, but that's just me. It is harder to see leaks on the block, but that's bitter sweet isn't it?
Ok I have one of each. My blue car is blue under the hood (factory) and my black car is black (not factory). I would vote for body color. Sam
