is it really needed? mine is all rusted up and id like to keep my engine bay as empty as possible. getting mine ready for paint, thinking about going charcoal grey
out here at car shows, everyone of the "muscle cars" or 60-70's era cars have a black engine bay, most with flat black wiring and brake lines showing where they just rattle canned to hide rust and dirt. I win car shows because my engine bay is the same color as my car making it different...lol. now, my car is jaguar black haha. so its still black technically. but my lines, hoses, bolts, ect....are contrasting colors showing the bottom up restoration and detail
I went with mercadies brilliant silver in the motor compartment and then going satan black on the outside with the silver ford gt stripes and silver race stripes.....hoping to have the gloss stripes make it pop with the satan black
I went with a light grey for the eng. comp and trunk...I did that because that's the way most Nascar cars are
Mine's gonna be semi gloss black, with brake lines and wiring either masked off or removed... Don't like everything in sight the same color, not how the factory did it...
This is also one of my pet peeves. Before I paint mine everything will be removed including the steering box, brake lines, master cylinder, wiring and anything else that suppose to be another color. If going through all the trouble to paint...might as well do it like the factory and paint first before parts were installed.
I agree. That's how I'll be doing mine as well. Satin black, too. NOT flat, NOT gloss...Satin I did notice however, that when I disassembled my car, that the spots where the 5 nuts are to hold the Heater Box to the firewall were yellow under them, NOT black. Either the Heater Box was installed before black-out, or the black paint came off with the nuts when I disassembled...
