I just got mine today, and yes, they are a direct replacement for the original Moog rubber bushings.......................If you want when I get ready to install them I'll take a picture. Just let me know.

Yes, I bought the 2005RG (red ones) from Mustangs Unlimited, the same ones Tody suggested....................and they are a perfect fit. Now with that said I have special made shackle plates that are much beefier than the std Maverick plates.

I need new leaf shackles, where do I order them without bushings? Any links or tips? I have some of those zinc extended shackles and they are not solid at all, would like to do it right with the new springs!

You could make your own out of .225 flat plate.....................or .125!

I actually think I got a plan for that. Ill use my extenda shackles that are really freaking thick. Weld the bolt to each opposite top and bottom. This will help stiffen them up. Also Punch a hole on the drill press at the stock length or maybe a bit shorter?

A shorter shackle would increase spring rate? Also be less deflection right?

Ain't tried it on a Maverick but...if you get the shackle too short it won't flip to the rear when the car it is sat back down on all 4's. Ford paid the engineers big money figuring the shackle length out...they didn't just guess at the length. It works with the leaf spring

Well, what is the stock length shackles? Just so I can compare to my .5" zinc plated extenda shackle plate thingies.

Best I could measure it looks like 3-1/2" center on the bushing stud

If you shorten the rear shackle you can lower the car.........I put lowering shackles on my Dodge Ram 1500 to lower the rear to match the front, about 1.5"..............buy using shorter than stock rear shackles.

Using shorter than normal shackles............within reason............will not noticeably change the spring rate......................think about long shackles and why they are used, usually to raise the rear of the car to put larger than normal tires/wheels.............or to help sagging springs.

If it were me I'd use Poly bushings and just use grade 8 bolts without welding them to the shackles............you are not racing the car so you don't need to try and stiffen this area unless you've put a poly bushing in the front spring eye. I do have an extra new front poly bushing if you need one.

the key is to have a compression stop of some sort for the shackles. usually their is a step down to the threads from the shaft of the bolt. this way you dont over tighten the bolts squeezing into the bushing. you can use a sleeve of metal tubing that is the width of the bushings that fits in the hole then use a smaller bolt to bolt the shackles on.
