Powder coating is fun. I powder caot all the time at work. Our oven is about 12 foot tall by 10 foot wide. We do side jobs all the time. Motorcycle frames, bicycle frames, gokart frames, you name it. Anyone needs anything powder coated, give us a call at 770-277-7070. Ask for Ed. Something about the size of a bicycle frame will run you about 35 or 40 bucks, and that's powder included. I plan to do pretty much all the suspension parts and bumper brackets and odds and ends like that on my car. We do black, red and yellow the most, we can also clear coat them.

not overly impressed with the gun....I am sure there is a much nicer one in my future.
But the oven is excellent.....if it was about 2 inches bigger all the way around :D

i powder coated quite a few things at my last job.. mostly maverick missiles. yeah.. note the same "maverick theme" hehehe

well anyways.. powder coating is very easy to do.. problem.. is you need an oven... if someone could get a decent walk in oven set up in a garage.. you could easily earn money to pay for fixing up a car. the powder gun and equipment is a little expensive initially.. but it would be a money maker in the long run,..

i was thinking of opening a business doing it.. but i would not do prep work.. you prep it.. i spray it.. keeps costs down for one..

How would the shiny stuff look on a bumper?
I could stand them being 'not exactly chrome' in order to save the big bux for rechroming.

Just have to find a big enough oven.
Maybe the local pizza joint will let me use their conveyer oven... :D

once you use an oven to cure powder paint, you cant cook in it anymore. the chemicals released and the powder will get on the racks..

a silver or chrome powder paint will look just fine, or you can buy paint that has colorant added to it to match most solid colors... there is a company that we dealt with at raytheon that will formulate any color you want.. just need a paint chip

and i dont remember who it was.. but i could find the info

They have about 7 grand tied up in the equipment I use at work... Of course it has paid for itself several times over.

I bought a used set-up, but I believe it was the $69 gun.
I have been playing with it just about every night....and getting better. :)
