prepping welded holes for paint

    Is POR-15 the brand's name? If not who makes this paint? I asked a guy at Home Depot and he had no idea what I meant...

    It is a specialty product, ordered from the website, or purchased through quality automotive paint stores. about $30 per quart, unless you buy by the gallon.

    OK, I sound "uninformed" when I ask this, but keep in mind, I tend to work on the engine MUCH more than body or interior...

    Am I correct to assume that I wrap the sandpaper, most preferably wet-r-dry, around this mixing stick, then apply pressure with my hand, as evenly across the stick as possible, to get the desired effect?

    I was going to wait until I was ready to paint and take it to fan2488's place and let him show me how to do it, but if I can get a couple steps ahead now, I will do that!!!

    Honestly, until this thread, I thought "blocking" meant to use a piece of sandpaper wrapped around a chunk of 2x4, so my ideas are changing rapidly...

    Yes ... but always sand at 45 degrees while hold the sandpaper wrapped stick horizontal or vertical ...
