I call it humpty dumpty because the car was in a lot of pieces when I bought it then I went on to completely dismantle everything else. I just hope I can put it back together again! Fortunately I have the 72 Comet GT to use as a template.
Sounds great. I'd have a back up plan for the oil pan. My moroso pan didn't work on a 72 grabber I was building, it was too wide. I ended up using a stock pan. It looks like you're using the same pan. I couldn't get a good look at it. Mine had. The kick outs
What color code is that and what year also. I know there's the early grabber blue and a more recent grabber blue. Is it BC CC? Or single stage. Thanks
oil pan Once they installed the March serpentine belt system and the air conditioning compressor they discovered that there was no space for the stock oil dip stick. Their solution was to install the high capacity oil pan. Now I'm worried it won't fit in the space between the control arm mounts. The engine will be delivered this afternoon. I'll make measurements and pray a lot!
Paint Code This is the chart I used to select my paint. I used a base coat/clear coat system from Sherwin Williams. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?manuf=Ford&model=Mustang&con=mo&year=1972&rows=50
Good luck, I hope it works out for you. You can always notch the pan if nothing else works. Keep up the good work
You should still be able to use the dipstick on the side of the block. I'm sure they used a latter roller block so it should have the hole on the side for the dipstick. Don't forget pictures of the new beast when it comes in.
The engine arrived this afternoon. I suspect that I'm going to have a clearance problem with the Moroso oil pan. They used this pan because there was no clear route for the stock dipstick to go. I called Prestige Motorsports and given what I paid them, made it their problem to solve. They're the experts and know what the engine was going it. You have to turn your head sideways to view the second picture.
Haven't posted pics in awhile. Seems like everything takes ten times longer that you think it will. Progress is slow but steady. Last weekend I finished up the Modern Driveline hydraulic clutch. The interior wiring is nearly complete. My next project is to paint the interior side of the doors and install the locks and glass.
