You aren't bugging me at all. Used VP on everything. I used it to paint the vinyl dashboard cap and the metal portion of the dash. I also used it to repaint the door metal and vinyl panels. For the non-vinyl (polyolefin based) plastic I first used a plastic adhesion promoter. I think I got mine at AutoZone. This stuff softens the polyolefin plastic just enough to help the paint stick. I basically used it for everything except the seats. Those I had reupholstered. SEM makes a great product. It gave me a perfect match, when on perfectly with no runs and dries quickly.
That sure is a nice car u got going on there, I can't wait to get mine painted I'm going blue as well, but going with the 1972 medium blue metallic on the outside & all black on the inside.
It's been several months since I gave an update. I retired in October so I'll have more time to get this project finished.
Looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel, looking great only a little more and you can hit the road and enjoy it

After 3 1/2 years Humpy Dumpty left the garage under its own power. I couldn't have completed this project without all the help I received from so many of you. I still need the exhaust system, front end alignment and the air conditioning hooked up. Other than that I still have a laundry list of smaller details to take care of. Picked up my new Vanity Tag the other day. The plate says WARTOY as a tribute to an H class Maverick my neighbor raced back in the 1970's when I lived in Niles MI. Russ Smith and his son Bill raced Fords for many years. Russ was something of a local legend. He was always coming home with rare Ford muscle cars he picked up around Dearborn. I'll put up pics of his racing Maverick in another post. Looks like my car won't be ready for this years National meet. Can anyone tell me where it will be in 2017?
Nice-Nice work. Great looking resto! Probably going to need a shroud over that fan for safety and efficiency, esp., when using AC.
