So I have not been doing much on the car in the last few weeks. I am so incredibly disgusted with it right now its pretty hard to even look at! For the first time during this entire project I have been letting someone else work on the car in the hopes it would help me. Well, that didn't work as planned. The guy is a friend that has wired dozens if not 100 hot rods over the years. I don't know why now, or what has changed. But he is dragging this project out. Started wiring in early March, and it still isn't done! On top of that, look at this rats nest of wires!!!! So because of the delay I have missed my turn at the upholstery shop and that guy had to take the next car in line, understandably. So now I am to a point where I am about to rip all this out, buy a new harness and start over and just do it myself. Such ugliness I can't take it.

This looks like an 8 year old did it.

One step forward, nine steps back.........

Wow! Hang in there there is a light at the end of the tunnel not a train. You have done such beautiful work and have inspired a lot of people on this forum. I think you just have a bad case of the finishing up blues.

Yes it does! Nowhere near the quality of work you have put in the project. I feel your pain!

Wow, I'm not impressed with your friends wiring at all. Sorry you are having to deal with this, but dont get discouraged. You are so close. :thumbs2:

That must be the same guy that has wired most of the cars we get at work.....

I just worked on a 69 Chevelle last month that had the correct Painless kit in it, put in by maybe an 8 year old..... Just to give you an idea the instrument cluster had 22 butt connectors in the ground wire alone.....

It's a shame people do stuff like that, specially when it's some one you know.....

Yes Frank, It's killing me to look at. I could have easily done it myself. But I have seen some past work of his, and my thoughts were that I could kill two birds with one stone by having him wire while I did other things on the car.

    Big mistake!

Well, the good news is that if everything works, you just have to shorten each wire by about HALF!..... geez!

He was probably getting frustrated because these dash areas are pretty tight. Give me my 71 Torino back ... I could stick my whole noggin up under the dash and still have space to work on it.

I really enjoy the wiring part, if I was closer I would volunteer to clean that up for you! Unfortunately it looks like a 41 hour drive so I won't be able to make it.

Worst vehicle I have wired was a 60's CJ5, no room behind the dash whatsoever! I am looking forward to doing the Maverick though, it will be the first car I have wired that's mine. I get to take my time, do it the way I want to without input and last minute changes by the car owner. As long as I am left alone to work in silence it will be bliss!

I have finally gotten far enough in the build to get the car out for exhaust! I am a few months behind schedule as I had really wanted to have the car at the Suracuse Nationals in early July. Clearly that didn't happen. Oh well, it will be done when its done I guess.

Here is the car peaking out into the sun for the first time since last summer when I painted it. Now its a car!

This was a bit heart wrenching. Like watching your first born get on the bus for the first day of school.

New 2.5" steel exhaust custom bent. Very tight to the floor and neatly done. Flow master 40's on there too. I will be taking this all off this fall and have it HPC coated.

And the guy that did the exhaust is friends with former pro wrestler Bob Backlund. Looks like he likes my car!!
