I looooooove that color! Shaving the door handles is a nice touch too, though I'm not crazy about those cowl hoods. Please keep us updated!!! Sam
Thanks, everyone, for the words of encouragement. This represents many hundreds of hours of work (to pay the body man), two years of accumulating parts and planning to decide what I want the final product to be. I appreciate all your responses and encouragement. I am trying for an August finish date so I can drive it in the Silver State Classic this fall. Wish me luck.
Love that color. It's nice you have 2 awesome hoods to choose from too....having the CF and a Grabber hood makes me jealous. Just when I think I want to short cut our car, I see one like this and think I should just invest the time and do it up right. Your hard work and dollars spent will be worth it in the end. Sweet car. Don
ok the first street driven maverick to hit 190 avg mph right!!!!! i think people missed you stating your going to do the silver state classic in this car dude that looks killer!! just stay away from the car shows i attend! btw the hood matches killer! i'm gald you like the way it fits!!!! where is the www.maverickman.com sticker you making knotts next year right!!!
Only allowed to run 95 the first time I run. I plan to gradually speed up to higher speeds. Goal is 140 class in Sept 2007. Thanks for the complements. And the hood! I really like the way it looks. I don't think you have too much to worry about. I am not a car show type of guy. I like to go and look but am just too lazy to do all the cleaning and polishing needed to ever win anything. (Hey, at least I know my failings.) As for the Maverickman.com sticker, I wouldn't want to confuse anyone.....:evilsmile Isn't it bad enough that I totally goofed and tried to give credit to Mavman for the hood instead of MaverickMan? Yes, I will be at Knott's next year. I will be in Reno in June but will be driving the beater. (Now that is a butt ugly car.)
The Silver State Classic is a 93 mile rally type race on Hiway 318 in Nevada. The idea is to race from a standing start to the finish line and come as close as possible to a perfect average speed of whatever catagory you are running in. In my case, as a rookie, I would be trying to average exactly 95.000 miles per hour. Now, this is not a straight road. There is a 12 mile straight and most of the turns are very gentle but near the end of the run, there is a place called the Narrows where the road follows a streambed through a tight canyon for several miles. So this is not a "cakewalk" to achieve. http://www.silverstateclassic.com/ Loads of fun to watch. I am really lookiing forward to participating!
its for crazy people like jay! here is some cam footage of something very close to that called the pony express http://www.racehome.com/videoslink.htm heres is some other info on it http://carcraft.com/eventcoverage/116_0402_slvr/ i have some crazy video of some 350xz crashing at 200mph when his tire blows out. crazy stuff!
