Just have one of your chambers cc d,then just mill the hd a little,.010 to .015 to get to 58cc.As long as you don`t cut it more than .020,you won`t have intake alignment problems,I used to do it all the time when I did machine work for a living.

I may just have to, yeah. How big of a difference though between the 170 and 190 would I notice with a street rod?

I think the 170s would be fine for the street because they will make more torque at a lower rpm than the 190s.The bigger hds w/ larger valves & ports, are made to make HP in the upper rpm ranges, say between 7000 & 9000rpm & you will never turn your mtr that hard.On the street you need that torque down low because your not going to ride around all day turning 6000rpm,also the 170 will work better w/ that cam you have chosen.now if you plan on building a bigger mtr later on w/ a bigger cam then go w/ the 190s.

Thanks so much for the reply. As far as motor goes, this will be as big as it gets. I don't want anything bigger for the street. Going to talk to Woody at Fordstrokers and get a set of 170s done up then. Anything beats the VERY worn out 289 heads that were on the 302 previously.

Talking with Woody(Jim) at Fordstrokers is an excellent idea :thumbs2: he built my motor and I am more than satisfied with it.

He sent my heads out of shop to TEA (Total Engine Airflow) and they worked them over and put the correct springs for the cam and a better valve job on them

I've heard nothing but good things from him and his wife. They are very polite and professional with their customer service.
