That is the plan. If I can afford the tire bill I'm creating I plan on beating the snot of this thing every chance I get.

Looks like it's going to be a clutch dumper everytime you get a chance to drive it :rofl2:

Well Guys I figured it was about time to get this project back on the front page. It’s been a long busy summer with work and life in general so I hadn’t had much time to devote to the car. I finally made the decision to make it a priority to get some work done on the car each week so here is the next installment.
I contacted Auto Weld Chassis in Danville, PA www.autoweldchassis.com to make me a set of rear rails. I sent them a poster board template of the Maverick frame rails for them to mandrel bend a set out of 2x3 tubing. It turns out my pattern was really close to something they already make so I didn’t have to pay the custom bending charge.
Close was good enough for me because even though I had perfect floors and frame rails I knew they would be coming out of the car. It will be easier to work with the Cortex rear suspension and fuel cell and then fabricate sheet metal floors after all is installed.
So out came the rear floor section and wheel houses. If anybody is interested they are free to a good home just come and get them.

I got so into the fabrication since it's been so long working on the car I forgot to stop and take pictures along the way. Here is the finished install of the rear section.

I started by installing 2x2 square tubing along the tail light panel, then trimmed the Auto Weld frame rails butting them up against the 2x4 cross member I installed earlier.

I used a pair of 345/30R19 BFG drag radials for mocked up and set the frame rails accordingly. I then installed the 2x3 rail flush with the cross member to leave room for the front trailing arm mount under the rails. This tucked the mount up very nicely. Once everything was square I welded it all in.

Even though it looks bad ass with the 345s my plan is to run a 315 in the rear, but after seeing the stance and the look I could be persuaded to go with them. What do you guys think?
Overall I’m very pleased with the installation of the frame rails.

With all that rubber tucked in there, it looks like a full-sized Aurora A/FX slot car .... :thumbs2: :thumbs2: :thumbs2:

I really like how you have the rails and the rockers tied together, too. This will be one rigid frame.

Yes with an offset loop. It was easier to buy one then take the time to make one.
