I think that someone thought that this was a good idea at some time.

This WAS an original '70 Boss 302.
A very valuable car these days.
Not that any of our stuff will ever come as close to these
in values, but hey, do you think these mods help the value?

Not that it should always be about money, but when the value
is high, it means that lots of people think it's cool. ie they like it!

It's your car, have a ball with it! Maybe you can get some other
ideas about modifying/customizing it from the forum.

Well frankly,...........wow    . I wasn't exactly thinking anything that drastic, or at least not like that. Some of the stuff I HAVE been thinking might be considered drastic. (The original intent of this thread, for example). Ahhhh, whatever.

What? Why? I mean, you're entitled to your opinion of course, but...why such a negative reaction?

I know that kind of stuff is done on the imports, but the majority of it is illegal to have on while driving. It serves as a distraction to you and other drivers on the road. Safety is the most important issue, and the DMV/law enforcement don't want more distractions amid the already crazy commute. The lights also have to be a certain color depending on the location of the car. Flashing, etc, is reserved for turn signals, and hazards only. If you look at most of the import light stuff the boxes will say, "May not be street legal", or "For show use only", or something to that effect to cover their butts when a bunch of angry people call them after getting tickets. A couple people I know have been pulled over because they had these import style lights and issued a ticket. I would suggest calling and checking the city laws and the state laws about this. Knowing the cops around where I live, the lights would give them even more excuses to pull over a teen driver. So the bottom line, check the laws/Vehicle Code, and call someone to talk to see what exactly you can have. I am pretty sure that you would get some grief about the hood light as the glare/glowing would affect your vision. Just something to think about.

Actually, I have checked out a lot of the rule and regulations around town. 1) It's illegal to have red, white, or blue lights on while driving, as they are reserved for emergency colors. 2) You cannot have any lights that obstruct, or detract from, your view. and 3) You were right Corbin, you cannot have any flashing lights on while driving.

HOWEVER, I wasn't thinking about having flashers on at any time, unless I was parked somewhere, or I was at a show. I think that if I did do the cut-out, then I'd probably get in trouble for having lights on while driving, cuz of the glare/whatnot. But I won't have money to do that for years. And if I were to just put lights into the scoops on the hood, I don't know that I would get in trouble for them as long as they weren't flashing.

Alright. Glad you've got it researched. I don't know all the particulars myself, so I'm glad you do. :) Anyway, don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, just alerting you to something which, turns out, you already knew. Go out and have fun. :)

Don't worry, I knew you weren't trying to be hostile or anything. Thanks for the heads-up anyhow (y) .

    well...

from growing up around my dad's body shop
and custom street rods being built in there, i would
say if your going to try something like that use a
fiberglass hood. your going to be able to cut and
work with it MUCH easier than a factory hood. that
would be a nightmare alone trying to keep that hood
from keeping it's true form. the plexiglass for that
design you show wouldn't be very heavy and should
hold up to the fiberglass. i think it could be done.

That is an awesome idea, and once again, it never occured to me...:slap: .

And in regards to the YOU craig, I already looked into "Pimp My Ride" (just for fun). Unfortunately, you have to 1) Be between the ages of 18-22, and 2) You have to live in the LA area. And I live in NorCal.
