Unless my crappy little Rayovac flashlight is playing tricks on me, The car is factory purple.

I took off the door sill plate, and it is purple under there (i will check again in daylight, to be sure.. But it looked purple too me). Also, the trunk area (its bare, doesnt have any carpeting or anything.. so all i had to do was look) is purple too (inside of the lid looks to be sprayed a combination of blue and black).

Very interesting car indeed!! I know of a Pink Maverick out in CA that was a special order like this one.

Cool ... you could also pull the back seat or look under the headliner if it's torn ... if it's purple there that is definitely are rare Maverick ...

Try cleaning off and waxing the paint under the door sill.....then post a picture. Would love to see what that would look like.

I waxed it and cleaned it and took the pictures. But for some reason, when i went to upload them, they were no longer on the camera. I will try again tomorrow (its raining, and getting dark right now.).... I did get this picture...Just as further proof it was purple, this is up inside the trunk under the Package shelf (its actually pretty shiny back there)

I'll try to get pictures of the waxed door sills soon, and i will post as soon as the marti report gets here! Thanks!

EDIT: Oops i forgot to post the picture i mentioned: [IMG]

I've seen so many regular old Mavericks called "rare", that I originally clicked on this thread with nothing but pure skepticism, figuring it would just be another regular old Maverick. You sure proved that wrong. After those last two pics, there is no doubt in my mind that the car was factory purple. I can't wait to see what the Marti report says! I wonder what the history behind the car is.

What are your plans for the car?

Originally, i was just going to rebuild it to my liking, and use it as my project car. But after finding out all this, my plan has changed... And i think i will be restoring it to close to how it was from the factory. At the very least, it will be repainted its original color and i will attempt to replace its interior.

Right now, it needs quite a bit of work. I am currently trying to find all the bits and pieces to make it run. I am getting its carb soon, thanks to Mavoholic. And i plan to pick up its distributor tomorrow. Those are the two major missing pieces keeping it from running (i am sure i will find more missing pieces after i stick those things on). The 2nd task after that is to fix the sand and rust proof the roof.

Here's what the outside/engine looks like:

I Wonder If A Marti Report Will Show The Color It Was Painted....or If It Will Just Say "special Paint"

That's pretty cool .... Nice Find .... Hopefully the Marti indicates the color ... but for some reason I do not think it will since Purple was not a color available that year. Totally a custom order probably for some sort of corporate promotion.

    That's what I'm thinking too.

    I agree. Very cool car!

My friend(on his own) decided to contact Ford for me, and ask them about the specifics. I got a call from them today (but i wasnt home, so a family member took a message), they said that the purple is likely a Jeep/Chrysler color, and that they will probably need a paint chip to find out for sure (I have to call them back tomorrow, to get more info).
