I'm hoping to really do something unique with this build. You guys bring up a good point that the time frame may be way to short for the amount I would like to raise but the money will speed up the build, create web content and in the end, raise money for charity. Seemed like a good way to go...I don't mean to be a nuisance with it.

I don't think you're being a nuisance at all here. The fact is that many others want to see that car finished as well.. and I think it's a pretty smart way to go, IMO. However, I would have to agree with some of the others that the time frame seems a tad short though. Why so short?

Another option would be to work towards acquiring larger sponsors that are more charity oriented. Some of the larger auction companies have huge grapevines and are always seeking attention grabbing custom machines like yours. Who knows?.. maybe even Chip Foose or some of the other custom car builders would be helpful.. at least to some degree.. if the papers were written up to designate it towards a charity auction event. Having a bigger name sponsor never hurts final valuation either. (y)

Great suggestion! My thoughts on the 30 day funding was to just get the project going faster. I'll work on larger sponsor type things...THANKS!

I donated what I could to your indigogo project since I really want to see more videos of the project. I have often lamented along with others about how we never get to see a maverick build on any of the car shows on TV. It's easily worth a few dollars to me to get to see one and I think you would show more of what I want to see than those lame cable shows anyway.

see.. now I'm just getting turned off by all the cash that's being spent just for the PR alone. I know it takes money to make money.. but maybe just use most of the cash raised to actually.. FINISH THE DAMNED THING ALREADY!?

Hell.. some of his cash just literally went up in smoke with all the cool looking fireballs! I'd be seriously pissed off right now if it was my money that just needlessly got wasted.

And it's also starting to sound to me like HE wants to race and enjoy the car before auctioning it off not just share it with the public(which you can't completely fault him for with all the time and cash spent on it so far.. but don't paint it another shade in the process). I say get the title signed over to someone a bit more selfless.. and get on with the build to get the charity its cash a bit quicker.

If you read the comments on the video, you would see that the pyrotechnics were done basically as a favor, he bough the guy coffee. Also, I'm not sure if your implying that he wasted money he raised, but he couldn't have done that. None of the money raised at Indiegogo is available to him until the end of the fund raising campaign and none of it will ever be available unless he reaches his goal.

And don't forget, the point of the project is to produce a video series documenting the build. The car may be going to charity in the end, but if your goal was just to donate to the Red Cross, you can do that directly. I donated to this project primarily because I want to watch the videos.

I also think he was pretty direct in saying he was going to take the car to shows and such before auctioning it off. I do think maybe he should put some kind of official timeline to that, but I don't think he painted it any other shade unless you really think you are the only one who saw through his evil plan.

no, I didn't read the comments. Nor do I claim to know all the details about his finances in regards to the project.. so maybe you're right there.
And I guess I didn't full realize that the "point of the project" was to make videos". Which in my personal opinion makes it even sillier to ask other for 30k just to become a videographer.

I have learned that nothing in life is really free though.. and resources that could be better used for the completion phase of the project are being used for PR. But like I said above.. most know that it takes money to make money.. and the same thing applies to raising it for a project like this.

I still stand by my personal opinion that it's becoming a little to self serving for my taste in "charity".

Heck.. for that matter.. and like the others have already similarly said in these threads.. help me finance my road course Comet GT and "I'll gaurantee you a build video.. AND as a special bonus.. of me driving it on roadcourse around the US every month of the year.. or your money back". ;)

See how that sounds a bit too self serving? Not to mention.. what if he breaks it while racing it around for "our personal enjoyment"? Will you help pay for that too.. if he includes the videos to go along with it?

Main point is.. far too much show here.. and not enough go. But.. more power to those who have the extra funds to help pave the way for such a build though.. and even more power to those who can pull it off using other peoples cash to do it. (y)

Did you contribute any funds? Is anyone forcing you to? It seems he's spelled his plan out pretty clearly in the video, he's not hiding anything and you're not doing anything but unnecessarily trying to put a negative twist on it. Some of us have been following this car for a number of years and would love to see it completed. If you have no intent to contribute, then by all means take a seat..

nope.. but I did give my honest opinion on his plan to raise such a large amount of money in such a short time.

And I'm not twisting anything.. just posting personal opinion on a public forum. You can take out your checkbook and believe anything you want to for all I care.

And I've been watching it since the first few vid's were posted on youtube and would love to see it completed too. But that doesn't mean I'm going to break out my wallet to make someone elses dreams come true though either. I have my own family and dreams to worry about.

As for taking a seat?.. well.. I'm already at my desk sitting down. :D But if I somehow misunderstood this thread for being only available to those who blow hot air after making payments for video production?.. my apologies. I'll just have to wait for the "bootleg edition" to show up on the internet.

Might want to change the threads title to reflect that and keep out the realists. ;)
