Sorry to hear that Don. Get better soon. Keep us posted & we'll be looking for your pictures of the car.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. From following your racing posts, you must have it in your heart as much as myself. Hang in there my friend, you will be back in the seat soon. Great story on the family side of racing, never been closer to all my racing friends. Always there when you need them. If I may, would like to relate a story of a fellow racer who passed away last year. Was a Nam vet and shot up pretty bad, had full use of only one arm but had been in racing all his 58yrs. Drove a 85 mustang, auto and fairly stock 5.0. New a few tricks on suspension and such and the car was deadly consistent. When he was on the tree, he could take out the best of them at anytime. Was a devoted family man and good friend, developed cancer and just took him in a hurry. We had a memorial at the track for him and his wife and kids, his son drove his car down the track with a missing man formation of race cars behind. And believe me, as we came back the return road, there was not a dry eye in the place, most cried like babies, including me. Still carry his picture on the dash of my race car. Had never met him until about five or six years ago, but to know him was a privilege. He never asked for help loading or unloading his car, but always offered his help, if you needed it. I still stop at his grave on the way to the track sometimes and see if he can give me some tips on getting those elusive .500 lights. Hope all of you have a "Charlie" in your life, this board is very close to the same type family setting that Don and I have talked about. To quote a saying "You reap what you sow" Good luck Don and get back on the track as soon as the leg is able to pop that foot off the brake and get the car on a record run.
thanks for all the kind words. hurts to think the season is over as far as the points goes, but there's still a lot of the year left and i'll be bsack asap. the people on this board are great too. lots of friends always willing to help.
Mr. Graham- I sure hope your knee gets well soon. It's never any fun to have health problems, but when it's something as big as a knee/leg so that it affects your daily life, it's a big deal. I am hoping and praying that you get straightened out soon. Take care.....Preston
just got on here and read the bad news.....hope everything turns out OK. Stay strong......and you are definitely right about great people at the track.
